Our Cottage is close to the River Medway where there are many places of historical interest e.g., Chartwell (Winston Churchill's residence), Hever Castle, Leeds Castle, Sissinghurst & Knole (Vita Sackville-West's residence), Penshurst Place, Bodiam Castle. Tonbridge main line station is a ten minute drive from where London can be reached in 35 minutes Other things to note Located down a long private drive with far reaching views over the surrounding countryside, Hawthorn Cottage built in 1880, was originally part of the neighbouring Hop Farm, where it was used to house the hop wagons. Now converted, it provides an idyllic rural setting for a peaceful visit to Kent. The variety of attractions in the area are unlimited and include the Kentish towns of Maidstone, Royal Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks; Leeds, Hever and Scotney Castles, and historical attractions such as Chartwell and Penshurst Place. The local area also boasts All Saints Church at Tudeley, the only church in the world with all windows in stained glass and designed by Marc Chagall.
