Mbewu Fields offers four comfortable, rustic lodges and 310 hectares of wilderness waiting to be explored - perfect for an authentic African experience Nikhil's Cottage is a cosy country cottage with 2 bedrooms, and 2 modern en-suite bathrooms, an open-plan kitchen with a dining and seating area that opens into a wooden balcony with magnificent views of Mbewu Fields and the surrounding mountains where you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere by the river. The space Mbewu Fields is located within the gigantic Baviaanskloof Mega Reserve, a spectacular world heritage site. Known for its biodiversity, it abounds with indigenous fauna and flora. A variety of self-catering accommodation is offered.The cosy cottages, Stone Cottage being on of them, are ideal for 2 to 4 persons. Appliances and equipment such as a stove or gas cooker, fridge, microwave oven, kettle, toaster, cutlery, crockery and braai facilities are available and bed linen is included. The area teems with birdlife, fish in the Kouga River and fynbos covering the hillsides. Kudu, klipspringers, baboons and leopards are regularly spotted. The Kouga River meanders through Mbewu Fields, providing a peaceful, calming atmosphere as the water flows over the white river stones. It has natural pools for swimming, kayaking, tubing and fishing for bass and catfish. The area offers opportunities for hiking, rock and mountain climbing, and 4x4 trails. Due to its unspoiled surroundings, one can contemplate the stupendous Milky Way as it straddles the night sky. Guest access All access - no restrictions. The property is 13,4 kms from the nearest town, and is accessible on a gravel road - 13,4kms from the town. Other things to note There are four lodges available on the property. Each lodge can be occupied by different guests, and are fully self contained. The property is accessed via a gravel road of approximately 13,4km in length. Guests are required to enquire about the condition of the road before booking. The nearest airports are George and Port Elizabeth, and the property is approximately 2 hours drive from each airport. The nearest shops are in Joubertina town, which is a 15 minute drive from the farm.
