Description
The Old Bottle Store is a cosy & quaint cottage tucked away behind our pub The Blackcock Inn at Falstone. Just a mile away from Kielder Reservoir we're a brilliant base for a stay in beautiful Northumberland. Amenities include a wood burning stove, kitchen (fridge, freezer, hob oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, Tassimo coffee machine), wide-screen TV, comfy sofa and armchairs, dining area, double bed, velux window in the bedroom for stargazing & en-suite bathroom with shower. The space Our cottage is reportedly the oldest building in the village, which brings with it it's own unique charm! Previously known as Honeysuckle Cottage, we have renamed her 'The Old Bottle Store' because that's exactly what she used to be! Tucked away in the heart of Falstone behind our pub The Blackcock Inn, her previous calling was the old bottle store for the pub. Escape from it all... truly switch off, our cottage has no wifi or mobile signal. Pure peace and quiet for those who want it! Just a little warning for the taller people amongst us in particular - with her being so old the ceilings/beams upstairs are quite low! Please note we do provide your first load of logs and coal for the wood burner to make your arrival nice and toasty - if more of either are needed during your stay they can be bought locally from Bellingham Country Store. Guest access We are quite out in the sticks (it's brilliant!) so public transport is very sparse... but the never-ending amount of walks and places to explore are so worth it. Please note we do not have WiFi in the cottage (but it is available free of charge in the pub next door) and mobile signal is also little to none in the village - the perfect place to have no choice but to switch off! Falstone's community is second to none, if you have the chance to meet any locals you will be sure to feel the warm local spirit. Walk the Lakeside Way around Kielder Dam, run, cycle/mountain bike on one of many different tracks around Kielder, sail, stargaze, relax, enjoy a pint or two (or three!) of local ale, explore, go for a walk with a herd of alpacas, try one of 50+ gins on the pub next door's gin menu, visit Hadrian's Wall, hike, try a Falstone Burger... there is so much to do (or not do!) in Northumberland. Other things to note Parking for the cottage is in our pub car park but if it happens to be full when you arrive there is plenty of alternative free parking in the village.
