Description

Elegant Victorian house with panoramic village views . Secluded but in a village location and very close to 50+ different beaches and a sea of attractions. Family friendly. All modern comforts and 5 miles from Cathedral City Truro and the historic port of Falmouth. Sleeps 7 / 8 (4 bedrooms). Week-long lets only, Saturday to Saturday during peak times. The space Sleeping seven comfortably (eight at a push), this four-bedroom Victorian family home in a quaint Cornish village has been in my family for almost 100 years. A sun trap terrace for alfresco dining commands a special panorama over quilted fields with an acre of private gardens on all four sides of the house, adding to a deep sense of rural peace ... yet you're just minutes away from Southwest Cornwall’s sea of activities and attractions and both North and South coasts. The house is full of original features (window seats, fireplaces, stripped original floorboards) and decorated in a period style. If you are used to a new build property environment this house might not be for you as it has single glazing and period furniture and the necessary quirks that come with this, but what comes with the quirks is lots of old English character. Enter through the back door to a large well equipped country kitchen-diner with space for entertaining eight. There’s a large drawing room with a more formal dining space and an additional cosy living room; a curved Victorian staircase with central chandelier leads to four upstairs bedrooms (two doubles, one twin and a single/small double), one bathroom with roll-top bath/claw feet (and stellar view) and a walk-in shower room with waterfall shower. Bedrooms: Bedroom 1: King. Large bay window bathed with light, Victorian fireplace & panoramic views. Bedroom 2: Double. Large bay window with stunning view and window seat. Victorian fireplace. Bedroom 3: Twin, pretty floral overlooking garden Bedroom 4: Small antique double (4 foot) to sleep one, or two very friendly or smaller people. Bathrooms: Bathroom 1: Large romantic free-standing roll top bath with claw feet and stellar view across the village, with loo, wash basin and heated towel rail. Bathroom 2: Large walk-in waterfall shower, with basin. Separate loo. Kitchen: Eight people can be comfortably entertained in the country kitchen-diner. Slate tiled floor and honed granite worktops with Belfast sink. Five-ring Rangemaster gas hob, two electric ovens, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer etc. Separate larder. Utility Room: Laundry room (iron, ironing board, washing machine) with space for coats, boots, buckets and spades. Living Rooms: Snug: TV, a library of DVDs and treasure chest of games, toys and dressing up. Gas fire, bookshelves, and squishy sofas. Plenty of guidebooks books on the local area. Drawing room: A dining table to seat eight, featuring Victorian open fireplace, and comfy seating. Other: Curved central Victorian staircase and blissful chandelier with cascading light. Cleaning/Towels/Linen/Maid service: Linen and towels are provided. Duvets and pillows are hypo-allergenic. Please bring your own beach towels. For stays of more than a week, a weekly changeover of linen & towels can be arranged. Amenities/Facilities: Barbecue, Parking for four cars, extensive garden. Outdoor picnic table on sun trap terrace. A couple of sun loungers. Dishwasher, Fridge, Fridge/Freezer, Hob/Stove, Iron, Microwave, Oven, Washing Machine. Accessibility: The house us not ideal for people with mobility issues as there is a step up to the house and there is no toilet facilities or bedrooms on the ground floor. There is a ten foot drop down to the house from the back garden so young children will need to be watched (which I am sure they would be anyway) when in the garden. There are also steep steps in the front garden down to the lawn where under 3s will need to be watched. Central Heating, WiFi, Telephone, TV with smart features to log into Netflix, Disney etc. WiFi is good for rural location (super fast broadband meaning streaming possible). Kids in tow? You'll find a Travel Cot (please bring own sheets but no extra charges), High Chair, a buggy and kids' plates/bowls/utensils. There’s a 'secret' mud kitchen in the garden, plenty of toys, games and DvDs and endless opportunities for hide and seek. There is a drop down from the top garden as described above so under fives should not be left unaccompanied. Guest access Guests have complete private access to the house and gardens. Other things to note The house is let for week-long periods only during peak times but short breaks are possible outside of school holidays Changeover day is Saturday. Arrivals are requested after 4pm on Saturday and departures by 10am the following Saturday. The changeover day is flexible during off-peak periods. Linen etc is provided.
