Description
This 3 bedroom, 2 bath home on 2 acres feels like your personal retreat, and has a cozy, natural, healing vibe. Sleeps 10 among three bedrooms. The out-of-doors is wild, sweeping, and beckoning. Your retreat awaits! The space Built in the early 1900s, this home has had only three owners, and has been lovingly cared for. The backyard is a surprising retreat, with a rambling creek, an open-space island suitable for a good game of kickball or frisbee football, and a somewhat dilapidated play structure that our kids helped build when we lived here, and refuse to let us take down. 🤣 Native trees have been planted throughout the property. Three kinds of wild berries grow along the creek, harvestable between June and July. Fire pit and picnic tables are available for your use. The home is large and welcoming: three bedrooms upstairs, with each room offering either a queen, king, or full-sized bed or some combination of beds, which altogether sleep up to 10. The sunken living room remains unfurnished and is perfect for morning yoga or Tai Ji practices (mats, blocks, bolsters and straps all provided). Guests love: the rustic, high-end kitchen with fire-engine red AGA cooker; two full bathrooms (upstairs, basement), both recently rennovated; the wild backyard, creek, and island; and the sunken living ("yoga") room. The gorgeous kitchen boasts granite island and counters, a fridge disguised as an old-fashioned wooden ice box, and a fire-engine-red cast iron AGA stove. Guest access The home is situated on a very busy road, but happily is surprisingly quiet inside, and the back opens up into almost 2 acres of a natural, park-like yard. Off street parking is available for up to three vehicles on a parking pad to the left, as you are facing the house. On the day of arrival you will be sent an access code for the front door. A utility access road directly across the street from the home allows hikers to enjoy treks straight to the top of South Mountain, and views of the valley, below. Other things to note This is a cherished family home! Several unique features set it apart, and may put off some guests, so we list them here: ~ there is no bathroom on the GROUND FLOOR. Full bathrooms are found in the basement (shower) and on the 2nd floor (tub and shower), and both have been remodeled since reviews mention their disrepair; ~ the large, sunken living room is unfurnished, and is a perfect spot for yoga, tai ji chuan, qi gong, and meditation. Bolsters and other props--in addition to four anti-gravity chairs--are available for your use; ~ there is no television (though there is WiFi); ~ like many farmhouses of the era, this home is situated very close to the road. That being said, guests are often surprised at how secluded and quiet they find the indoor spaces. There is some fencing, but it is discontinuous and small children absolutely should be supervised outside and on the play structure.
