Other things to note Just a few kilometers from the metropolitan regions of Rhine-Main in the north and Rhine-Neckar in the south lies the picturesque district town of Heppenheim between Odenwald and Ried. The Bergsträßer district town, the hometown of the multiple Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel, has a lot to offer its visitors. Anyone who strolls through the historic center of Heppenheim's old town will discover medieval half-timbered houses, romantic old town alleys, St. Peter and idyllic squares in the district, wine and festival city. Cozy restaurants in historic walls invite you to linger. High above the city, the Starkenburg Castle towers, surrounded by magnificently blooming fruit trees and sun-drenched vineyards, whose leaves turn yellow-red in autumn and make the vineyards shine. Watch the winegrowers during their busy grape harvest and enjoy the scent of new wine – Federweißer and Federroter – and of course our Zwiebelkuchen. We hope you enjoy exploring!
