Description

We're two Portland craftspeople trying to keep the OG Airbnb experience alive by offering thoughtfully designed private guest suites out of our home/studio. We’ve restored this spacious, private loft from top to bottom, combining vintage charm with modern amenities — including a huge bedroom, spotless bath with soaking tub, simple kitchenette, and sitting room with sofabed. With one of Portland's most vibrant and walkable districts just outside the door, it’s a perfect home base to explore PDX The space Through a private entry and up a flight of stairs, you’ll find the guest suite on the original sleeping level of the house. We’ve updated the century-old space for modern travelers — including an all-new, spacious bathroom with soaking tub — but kept much of the original charm intact, like the original old-growth fir floors. The roomy bedroom faces east and features a cozy queen bed with a brand-new mattress, writing desk and comfy chair to curl up with a good book. Ample windows throughout the space provide beautiful natural light even on Portland’s rainy days. Like most old Portland homes, we don't have central air and rarely need it. But with summers seeming to get a little hotter each year, we've listened to guest requests and added an A/C unit to the bedroom to help with the occasional heat wave. The bright kitchenette is the perfect spot for breakfast or a night around the table with friends, and features a custom farmhouse sink built from locally salvaged materials. With amazing dining steps away on Alberta Street, we doubt you’ll want to eat in, but there’s a small fridge with freezer for supplies, and a microwave for the leftovers that will undoubtedly come home with you. And of course there’s a stock of fresh organic coffee, coffeemaker and french press for late nights and early mornings. Also provided are a toaster, toaster oven, and double burner cooktop with basic cooking supplies. (Sorry no full-size oven/stove.) A separate dormered sitting room features a couch that folds down into a second queen bed, and a door for privacy. Snuggle up on the couch with our guide to the city and plan your adventures — we’ll have lots of recommendations — or snag a pint of ice cream from the flagship Salt & Straw shop down the street and enjoy a movie and a night in. If your tastes run stronger than ice cream, we are cannabis-friendly — we do ask that anything that burns happen outside, but vaping is fine inside the Airbnb. Guest access Guests enter through a side door of our lovely century-old home using an electronic keypad and a personalized access code. Walk up a flight of stairs to a recently renovated apartment with a spacious bedroom, beautifully renovated private bathroom, living area equipped with a tv, and a kitchenette with all the basics. Sorry, no yard access but you can hang out on the steps of the side porch or smoke in the driveway area (tobacco or marijuana). Other things to note Our home is in the heart of the city and nearby Alberta Street is a bustling road for walkers and cars. The pub next door is a respectful neighbor and they often feature live music -- sometimes you can hear it from the Airbnb. (Wednesday and Sunday nights feature outdoor music but they are wrapped up by 10pm) We are also working artisans and have a small workspace on site, so there is the potential for some tool noise during the day. If you're sensitive to the noises of the city, this might not be the best spot. If you want to park and wander into fun -- this is the place to be! Registration Details 18-100996-000-00-HO
