Description

Enjoy a stay at Crosswoodhill Farm Holiday Cottages. A 35 minute lovely scenic drive takes you into the heart of Edinburgh. Surrounded by fields of grazing sheep and cattle, this self-contained accommodation, known as the Wing, is in the middle part of this 18th century farmhouse. With its own long stretch of garden, inside it oozes atmosphere with its original pine panelling, doors and shutters. Helpful owner, "G" lives at the front of the house, very happy to help or advise on away days. The space A working livestock farm. A much loved traditional property with a long scud of garden ideal for playing or relaxing in . A great play area with swings and a fort to clamber up and chute down in the woods behind ( the latter sometimes shared with children from our other 2 cottages. Guest access The front door to the Wing for guests' exclusive use is at the rear of the farmhouse. Attached to the guest accommodation and exclusive to your party, you have a good sized garden kids can run around in, or kick a ball round. And eat alfresco at the picnic table. In the woods behind is a large play area with swings, a see-saw, a sandpit, climbing frame, with a wee room at the top. This area is shared between yourselves and 2 of our other properties on the farm. Guests are welcome to explore our livestock farm on the Pentland Hills. watch the shepherd at work and walk through our fields and up into the Pentlands which has splendid walks especially for the adventurous. Other things to note Whenever possible we do encourage Saturday to Saturday stays. Our 3 day minimum let offer usually only applies to bookings made up to 3 weeks before your planned visit. After that, for "further ahead" bookings you would pay the 7 night fee for a Saturday to Saturday even if you do not require all 7 nights. This could still work out a good bargain for you.. You need to do price comparisons with other places! There is so much to do around here and within an hour's drive: our location is so central that if you have the time you won't regret staying longer than you may otherwise have considered. We do welcome up to 2 dogs but if you do bring a dog a weekly or part/week pet fee of £20 is payable to the owner, G, whilst staying. Other things to note We do charge an extra £20 per pet paid on arrival to the owner if you bring your 4 legged friends. We also charge fuel and electricity as per meter readings at cost as per metered usage at the end of your stay. Be green and cut your bills! 1 other thing guests need to be aware of: The nearest public transport is 6 miles away in West Calder so you really need your own car here, though you could order a taxi to take you to West Calder which has excellent rail links to Edinburgh and Glasgow.
