4WD currently required. Studio apartment in the yellow cottage with private entrance, private bath, private kitchen, and full size bed plus futon. Located on 300 acre farm and woodland. Electric heat. Wifi. Level driveway and parking set back from the road with a nice yard. Yard includes a propane grill and a wood fire pit by the creek. The creek wraps around the side and back of the cottage, and the front is graced by a view of a horse pasture. The space The Dogwood is one private apartment of a cottage duplex on 300 acres of beautiful mountain property with trails and cascading creeks. The setting is creekside with large shade trees. Enjoy the quiet or bring the kids and enjoy roasting marshmallows at the firepit and chasing lightning bugs in season, or watching butterflies dance across the meadow. Hike or ride the trails, wade in the creek, or head in to town for antiquing, dining, and festivals. See below for other local tourist attractions. Simple cottage charm in a family friendly environment. We call this apartment the Dogwood Suite in The Yellow Cottage. It has one full size bed plus a futon, and its own kitchen, and bathroom. We provide bed linens, towels, dishes, utensils, and cookware. The kitchen is equipped with range/oven, refrigerator, sink, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. Cable TV and wi-fi. We're only about 3 miles from Historic Downtown Spruce Pine where you'll find antique stores, crafts, restaurants, groceries, and even a regional hospital. Nearby attractions also include rafting, gem mining, golf, and horseback riding. Winter snow skiing is within about an hour drive usually from Thanksgiving week through March, but verify conditions with the slopes before planning. We're centrally located between Mt. Mitchell (tallest mtn east of the Mississippi), Roan Mountain (world's largest natural rhododendron garden), and Grandfather Mountain (mile high swinging bridge and wildlife preserve). The Blue Ridge Parkway is about 7 miles away. Go either direction on the parkway and visit either Crabtree Falls or Linville Falls. All our units are non-smoking only. We do charge a pet fee of $15/per night or $100/month. Small dogs only are allowed with prior approval, sorry no cats due to allergies. Dogs must be crated if left unattended and must be leashed when outdoors because of horses.
