Description

Westerlands is Set in the South Downs National Park, on a quiet farm, this beautiful self built yurt, makes it a peaceful spot for a romantic getaway. Breathtaking views of the South Downs from the accommodation make this a stunning setting, with plenty of gorgeous woodland walks close by, as well as links to the South Downs Way and several lovely local pubs nearby. We offer horse riding, Wildspa with sauna and cold plunge, outdoor fitness classes, yoga, massage and more. Why not treat yourself? The space Emma’s self built yurt Description: get back in touch with nature in your own Summary: If getting away from it all for the weekend is your thing… you’re in the right place. My yurt is positioned in the heart of the South Downs national park with sweeping views of the South Downs itself and yet within walking distance of wide open farmland and all our protected woodlands and heathland parks. Facilities: The yurt has a king size bed and 3 extra single beds, made up if you need, which are x2 fold up camp beds and 1x mattress on the floor (Note the single beds are very simple which I would say is not a luxury for adults but for children should not be a problem.) Bedding and towels are provided (but please let me know if you need extra beds) There is no electricity, so you are completely off grid but if you need to charge phones and laptops just let me know and we can sort out for you. There is a compost toilet and outdoor shower nearby (30 metres away) and a flushing toilet with shower in the main house that is available to use throughout the year. This is approximately 1 minute walk away from the yurt. In sub zero temperatures we have to switch off the water to the outdoor shower but hot showers will always be available in the main Westerlands house. (There is a map provided inside the yurt to indicate where everything is) Although the bathroom is shared, it’s not the main bathroom for the house and is very rarely used by others, the only people it is likely to be used by are other airbnb guests from my shepherd hut. The yurt is also situated close to our new 2024 WildSpa which includes a wood fire sauna, plunge pool and outdoor shower. The yurt has a basic kitchenette area inside with a single gas burner, fresh drinking water outside with the tap provided, a kettle, cooking pot, frying pan, plates, bowls, cutlery. Tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper and cooking oil are also available. There is a fire bowl provided outside to make a fire or cook food on. (Fire logs and kindling are provided to make one or two fires and if you need more it’s £8 for a bag of logs.) There is a small communal fridge situated in another outlet close to the indoor shower room if you need. Here at Westerlands we offer treatments and therapies from the Rose room based at the main Westerlands house. Facial Reflexology Podiatry Reflexology Massage Reiki Sound bath Yoga Pilates Please enquire if you are interested and when you would like and I will forward you more info. Activities and facilities on Westerlands farm: - Horse Trekking  A fabulous ride through the beautiful woods of Ambersham, Lavington Common or up on the Downs for some spectacular views. Weather dependent due to the ground. Or Pony walk Child rider (4yrs up) or complete beginner. A great way to see the estate without tiring your legs out! All riders are on a lead unless advised. To find out more, please feel free to send me a message or check out the Westerlands website for prices :) E-bike hire  We have x2 Raleigh Motus hybrid electric bikes, available in two adult sizes equipped with helmets and secure bike locks. The Motus makes easy work of long journeys and sharp inclines which means you'll be able to tackle the South Downs hills easily and explore further afield in our beautiful countryside  beyond vineyards, rivers and even stop for a pub lunch along the way. Please send me a message if you would like to reserve a day of use. Dine at Woodfire campsite We also wanted to let you know about a potential dinner option on site here, if you fancy a night off as part of your stay. We’re lucky enough to work with an amazing couple who run a small campsite here and do the most delicious food, cooked mostly over a wood-fired grill in the field. It’s seriously amazing! They will be cooking over the spring and summer months at the weekend and school holidays. If you have booked through us I can send you their food menu a few days before your arrival...please share your email with me for this. (Just a note - please rest assured that the campsite will not ruin your peace and quiet during your stay here. The campsite is positioned far enough away to not be an issue, and they have strict noise rules.) Emma's horse box café We run a little café from one of our rustic horse boxes, with riding saddles to sit on and to enjoy our delicious local ice creams, smoothies, cakes and of course tea and coffee! Wildfit Our outdoor gym will run class or 1:1 sessions bookable through the app or website. Drop me a note for further details if you’re keen! Guest access There are many footpaths across the farm for you to explore, and if you're lucky there is normally something to forage along the way! Please stay out of the fields with livestock as this can worry the animals. To find excellent walks around here please download a free app called Alltrails, really easy to use or I have os maps provided in the accommodation where you can follow your own footpaths from the farm. Guests also have an option to hire X2 Releigh Motus hybrid electric bikes, available in two adult sizes equipped with helmets and secure bike locks. The Motus makes easy work out of long journeys and sharp inclines which means you'll be able to tackle these South Downs hills easily and explore further afield beyond vineyards, rivers and even stop for a pub lunch along the way. During your stay It is a self check in, and we will generally leave you to enjoy the space in peace. We are always available to help so either call Emma, Cheryl, or the office for assistance. Other things to note Bathroom facilities are cleaned daily. Outdoor Showers are located to the West of the Wildspa, and available in mild to warm weather. We have to close this in subzero temperatures to protect the infrastructure and integrity of the plumbing. Indoor Showers are located in the main house to the right of the office doors. Head through the big brown wooden door, sticking right through the botanical room and up the steps the other side.
