Description

One-bedroom casita with separate access and off-street parking gives you a quiet space in a semi-rural area. The casita sits behind our home and shares a large brick patio, verdant yard and colorful flower gardens. A nice place to come home to after touring New Mexico or visiting the grandkids. Close to Los Poblanos Inn, 15 minutes from Downtown and Old Town. Take a walk along our 'acequias' to a nearby 140 acre open space preserve. Our cat Lily and dog Basho might visit you to say "Hi". The space The casita is a fully furnished two-room traditional adobe building with modern amenities, natural plaster walls and brick floors. The casita accommodates a couple or small family, sleeping two adults in the bedroom's queen-sized bed and one adult or two children on a couch bed and fold-out foam mattress. Off the bedroom is a full bathroom with a cast iron tub/shower, with Mexican tile tub surround and vanity counter and a heated saltillo tile floor. The kitchenette side of the living area serves for making coffee and light duty cooking, with a dining table and cupboards stocked with Fiestaware dishes and cooking utensils. Although there is no stove, there is a hot plate, microwave and toaster oven, tea kettle, both drip and French press coffee pots, and a small blender. The small refrigerator has a freezer section big enough for ice cube trays and ice cream. The main house and casita sit on a half acre full of trees in a 1940s neighborhood. The casita's 16-inch-thick adobe walls have a natural interior plaster finish, with ceilings of beautiful roughsawn native pine boards and hand-peeled log beams called vigas. The brick and tile floors are toasty warm in winter with radiant floor heat. Summer cooling is provided by a rooftop evaporative cooler. Guest access The casita sits tucked behind the main house with a separate entrance through a side gate. Guests are welcome to use the 20x40' brick patio between the main house and casita, with plenty of outdoor furniture, a covered dining table, and a gas grill. We have a school-grade swing set and a bin full of yard games for kids to play with. There is off-street parking for two cars. Arrangements can be made for doing laundry in the main house. Other things to note Your rental includes a complimentary bottle of red or white wine, local craft beers, a selection of teas, and a basket of snacks. There is a pour-over coffee set as well as a larger French press. There is Wi-Fi Internet access in the casita, as well as a TV with Netflix, PBS, and other Roku channels as well as over-the-air HDTV, but no cable. The bookcase next to the bed is stocked with books on local history, art, and other subjects of interest, and a varied selection of fiction as well.
