Roman Dorchester is the county town in the heart of international author and poets Thomas Hardy's Wessex. A trip to National Trust owned Kingston Lacy is not to be missed, this elegant country mansion set in beautiful gardens is ideal for picnics in the sunshine. The house is a treasure trove of art and the exotic, courtesy of the Bankes family and their colourful past. Denbur Cottage was built in the early 1900's. It retains many of its original features including the upstairs bedroom fireplaces. Today it is well equipped and furnished, offering a remarkably enjoyable stay. The ground floor consists of a porch, entrance hall, conservatory, wet room, kitchen/diner and sitting room with stairs leading up to a double bedroom, a double/twin bedroom and bathroom suite with shower mixer over the bath. The property sleeps up to four, children are welcome, no pets, no smoking inside. The surrounding area offers plentiful countryside walks, cycle paths and cosy pubs for a well-earned rest.
