In the Spring and Fall we offer Colonial Dancing to give you some insight to colonial entertainment and get you feet tappin’! Wondering what you’ll do and see in Williamsburg? If you’re into history, you’ll be in good company! Known as America’s Colonial Capital, history abounds in Williamsburg. Colonial Williamsburg, a living history museum, depicts the life and times of Colonial America. At nearby Jamestown Settlement, the story of America’s first permanent English settlement (13 years before the Pilgrims landed in Massachusetts) and the Virginia Indians they encountered is told through film, gallery exhibits and living history. Fast forward to the Revolutionary War with a visit to historic Yorktown. In October, 1781, the Siege of Yorktown culminated with the British surrender to American and French forces under George Washington’s command ending the six-year Revolutionary War and setting the stage for a new government and nation. Who said history can’t be fun? And when in Yorktown, don’t miss a visit to the Riverwalk area where you can walk on the beach, visit their antique and specialty shops and experience unique dining opportunities. Moving on to a different kind of fun, Busch Gardens Williamsburg has held the title of the World’s Most Beautiful Theme Park 20 years running. Chills and spills, twists and turns are around every corner as you enjoy the sights and sounds of Europe. On autumn evenings, they “spook” up the park at night for Howl-O-Scream and have a variety of Haunted Houses, themed shows and other frightening features. In the winter, the sounds of Christmas concerts, live carolers and Celtic holiday harmonies will fill the air at Christmas Town at Busch Gardens. For the coolest kind of summertime fun—it’s Water Country USA, the Mid-Atlantic’s largest water park, just minutes from Busch Gardens. Or lie out at the resorts Outdoor Pool, enjoy a smoothie, join us for the ice cream social and get to know your neighbors for the week. And, as is true of any great vacation destination, Williamsburg offers adult entertainment as well…activities like championship golf and world-class outlet shopping at over 120 stores at Prime Outlets Williamsburg (located just a few miles from the resort). Be sure to visit the enormous new Yankee Candle Flagship store a few minutes away. Merchant’s Square in Colonial Williamsburg offers many unique and specialty stores. Dining opportunities abound in Williamsburg as well! Experience regional or colonial favorites at any of the dining venues associated with Colonial Williamsburg. The Merchant’s Square area of Colonial Williamsburg offers unique dining at such places as The Fat Canary, Blue Talon Bistro, Berrett’s Seafood and The Trellis – famous for its “Death by Chocolate” dessert. You realize there are no calories on vacation, right? After dinner there are several evening entertainment choices and other art offerings throughout the year. Live performances with Colonial Williamsburg include “Cry Witch”, “Pirates Among Us” and the “Crystal Concert”. Williamsburg Plantation Resort offers the “Hauntings of Williamsburg” Tour from Spring to Fall and during the holidays we offer the “Williamsburg by Candlelight” Tour. In the summer the Virginia Shakespeare Festival performs at College of William and Mary’s Phi Beta Kappa Hall, community theatres throughout the year offer a variety of plays, and there are several farmer’s markets and Art, Wine, Italian and Greek Festivals. Take a daytrip away from Williamsburg on a Washington DC Tour or Norfolk Harbor Cruise/Norfolk Day Tour or, in the fall, the Monticello/Michie’s Tavern excursion while enjoying the fall foliage throughout rural Virginia. Take us up on our Monday Historic Triangle Orientation Tour to become a little more familiar with all there is to see and do here. Sign up and get picked up right at the resort! After all the walking and touring of the area, you deserve to relax at our Spa. Located on property, they offer a variety of massages, facials and body wraps as well as manicure and pedicures. A full brochure is available for you to peruse and choose the offering that works best for you.
