The Wagtail hideaway is located in the heart of Thetford Forest. This luxurious cottage has direct access to the forest and is popular with walkers, bird watchers, cyclists and those wishing to escape everyday life. Lynford Lake, with it's own man made beach, is literally 2 mins walk away. You can easily explore Norfolk & Suffolk, including Sandringham and the North Norfolk coast. Located 4 miles from Brandon train station and one mile from Mundford village which has shops, pubs and cafes. The space You will have this luxury cottage all to yourself. It is equipped with high quality furnishings, underfloor heating, fast wifi and smart TV. Well equipped kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, double oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, hob etc. The Wagtail is self-contained and located within a beautiful shared walled garden set in over 1.5 acres and brimming with wildlife. The garden has well stocked borders, a stunning pavilion with seating, fire pit and bbq (please bring your own charcoal), which is shared with other guests. There are also deck chairs for you to use. No road noise and good quality mattresses means you will have a wonderful night’s sleep! On site there is the delightful Shepherds Baa cafe which is open every day from 9 to 4pm. Lynford Lakes, which has it's own man made beach and the River Wissey with it's endless walks are literally on the doorstep. Breathe the fresh forest air and immerse yourself in nature! Guest access Thetford Forest is full of nature and is off the beaten track. A car is a must, but we also recommend bringing your bikes to explore the forest and really enhance your stay! The property is nestled within Lynford Lakes (with it's own beach) and Lynford Arboretum (collection of rare trees). You will have the entire property to yourself which is ideally located to explore Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. The delightful Shepherds Baa cafe is onsite and serves a wide variety of drinks, cakes and pastries. Mundford village is only one mile away and is easily walkable. Within the village there is Browns which serves a lovely breakfast or lunch and the Crown which has a beer garden and serves great pub grub. The village also has a butchers, convenience store, fish & chip shop and farm shop cafe. Brandon train station is 4 miles away and has good links to the cities of Norwich and Cambridge. Other things to note Please be aware that we have a strict no pet policy at this property. Mobile phone signal isn’t great, you will get signal around the grounds but sometimes it can be patchy. It is best to enable wifi calling as the wifi is good. We are in the forest away from public transport so you are advised to have a car in order to make the most of your stay. There is a military training area close by so occasionally you will hear aircraft and training exercises in the distance. We politely request that you drive in and out of the drive at walking pace as we have two dogs and, although they are not often roaming free around the parking area, it is possible.
