NB: BANK HOLIDAY weekends: minimum of 3 nights only. Located in the Lower Manifold Valley the Farmhouse has provided a relaxed environment for friends and family for over 40 years in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on a REAL working farm of sheep and beef cattle. The spacious C.19th Farmhouse is built of local limestone and is in a private idyllic location 1/4 mile from the lane offering easy access to all pursuits. The space After discovering the thrills of the Peak District guests can return to the farmhouse and relax in front of the open fires, or enjoy the summer evenings out in the garden listening to the birds evensong. The entrance hall has a wooden floor with carpeted stairs leading to 4 carpeted bedrooms: 1 double with wc & wash basin, 1 double + 2 singles 1 double + 1 single with wash basin. 1 room with 4 singles, 2 of which can be joined to make a large double please let us know if this is required upon booking. A family bathroom and a shower room off a large carpeted landing. Downstairs is a large family lounge equipped with open fire, sofas, tv & table tennis table, views onto the south facing lawn. A second large lounge with open fire, sofas, smart tv and Bluetooth cd/radio with views onto the south facing garden. Fully equipped kitchen/diner Pantry with fridge and freezer. Laundry room with shower & wc off. At the rear is an enclosed yard with coal/log store & views to the northern hills and small farm yard. At the front of the Farmhouse is off road parking for up to 6 cars (max), south facing patio, benches & bbq with a large level lawn accessed by 3 steps ideal for family games. The garden has a birdbath and mature bushes attracting many species of birds. All linens, power, heating, fuel, wifi, cot and highchairs are provided. Guest access A single track lane with 6 cattle grids and a few passing places leads you to Throwley, the best approach being from Calton (1 mile) which brings you out onto the limestone plateau of Throwley Moor. The views are fantastic! A private gravel road leads you to the farm. This is not always suitable for vehicles with very low chassis eg sports cars. Your own transport is essential - there are no local public transport services. Parking is free and for up to 6 cars adjacent to the Farmhouse. For walkers there is direct access from the Farmhouse to a network of popular trails and footpaths. Cycle trails are a little further away. Other things to note This is a working farm managed by my son Tom who is happy to answer your questions about farming but ask our visitors to keep to the house and gardens, especially children and dogs. The enclosed rear yard of the house is a good viewing platform. Our Beef and Lamb can be purchased from Marks Family Butchers, Shawcroft Car Park, ASHBOURNE.
