A few blocks from Praça da Sé do Pelourinho, fast taxi to the beach, wifi 500Mega, SMART TV and all amenities. Spectacular view of the colonial churches from the terrace/garden (SHARED BETWEEN 3 APTS), bedtime network and the energy of the historic center! No Airbnb desde 2011. Shared washing machine and billiards table. Owners, Australian couple and children visit annually in January. • The space: table, 2 wooden chairs, wooden desk, sofa, SMART TV, fan, closed and open storage spaces, double bed, 2 bedside tables, large bathroom with “Hollywood mirror”, kitchen with water filter, exhaust fan, stove, full-sized fridge with freezer, microwave, coffee brewer, stainless steel cutlery, crockery and utensils, bed sheets, towels, soap and toilet paper to get you started. • Part of colonial mansion (Mansão Bângala), completely restored in 2011 with European design and finishing, in front of the house where famous Afro-Brazilian abolitionist Luís Gama (Luís Gonzaga Pinto da Gama) was born and in the street where the famous bossa nova singer Dorival Caymmi was born. 5 minute walk to Pelourinho Praça da Sé but just far enough away to avoid the bustle/noise, mid-point between iconic sites Barra (with lighthouse and beautiful beach) and Igreja do Bonfim (Bonfim Church) with short taxi ride to both, short walk to Carnaval Pelourinho and Campo Grande circuits. • 1 block walk to famous Mouraria/Nazaré open air bars/restaurants at back of the army barracks, a great, relatively cheap but good quality option for local food and to experience the quintessential Brazilian barzinho with a friendly, noisy atmosphere. The 5+ bars/restaurants between the Church Rectory and the army barracks are famous for their mussels (lambreta) as well as other typical Salvador and northeast dishes (eg. Moqueca, carne do sol, escondidinho etc), the restaurant/bar Koisa Nossa on the corner is famed as having Salvador’s best “empada” (pastry with savory filling) and all (of course) serve excellent caipirinhas/caipirosaks and ice cold beer. These bars/restaurants are famous for being the post-football match bars so worth trying to see a match during your stay and enjoy the bar-restaurant atmosphere after (see below about the football matches) • Available for short term and long term rent, fully furnished. • Rental direct from Australian-Bahian couple owners; English, Portuguese and Spanish spoken (as well as Swahili); plenty of free tips on how to experience the best of Bahian culture, cuisine, music, beaches and surf; eg. live jazz at sunset at the restored customs house overlooking Bahia de Todos os Santos, Salvador’s best ice cream on the old seafront at Ribeira, or watching the ‘gente bonita’ (beautiful people) and tackling a great surf break at a classic beach bar on the northside of the city, and – of course – all the best live music events and festivals for which the city is renowned. • Dave has worked and lived in almost all countries across Latin American countries and so has plenty of good tips for your Latin America continental adventure (as well as many other countries in Africa and Asia) • Note, not very suitable for young children (less than 5 years old)
