Description

The Pavilion is a spacious detached cottage, which forms part of Thorp Arch Hall. It is totally self-contained and has its own entrance door. It is set in its own private gardens, and has ample secure parking. The space Situated down a short private road, the Pavilion was built in 1756. The cottage is light and airy and its windows look out over farmland with the River Wharfe glinting through the trees. If it's peace and tranquility you're looking for then look no further. Downstairs the cottage has a large living room with comfy sofas, ranged around the wood burning stove. It has a 48 inch smart tv and DVD player. The dining area is furnished with lovely Jacobean antique oak furniture. There is a downstairs cloakroom and a spacious fully-equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. There is also a strong broadband signal making it eminently suitable as a workspace. On the first floor are two double bedrooms, one of which converts to a twin-bedded room; the beds have feather duvets and crisp white linen. And the bathroom, well, if I tell you it has three windows, you'll get an idea of the size. There is nothing cramped about this cottage. I provide my guests with all they need for a good breakfast - orange juice, fruit, milk, eggs, cereal, bread, butter and home-made preserves. The garden is south-facing and, on a hot summer's day, you can enjoy the sound of trickling water; there is a paved seating area, two lawns and a pond with a water spout coming out of a lion's mouth. And, for those lazy summer evenings, there’s a large gas barbecue. The views from the garden are just lovely, over lawns and shrubbery to the fields beyond. There is ample secure off-road parking available and you can enjoy lovely country walks along footpaths and cycle tracks right from your doorstep - you don’t even need to take the car out. *** Thorp Arch is situated three miles from the bustling market town of Wetherby and is a good base to visit either the Dales or the Yorkshire coastline - being midway between both. The delights of York and Harrogate are close at hand. There is a pub in Thorp Arch and, if you walk over the river bridge, you come to Boston Spa which enjoys a lively cafe culture and has many restaurants and independent shops. As part of our commitment to provide the highest standards of hospitality to our guests we have signed up the Airbnb Enhanced Cleaning Protocol. CHRISTMAS IN THORP ARCH Christmas is a very special time in Thorp . A lot of the houses in the village are beautifully lit up and the Pavilion is festooned with icicle lights. Inside the cottage the fireplace is decorated with a sumptuous frosted pine garland and twinkly lights complete the scene. Home-made Christmas cake, mince-pies made with our own special brandy mincemeat and a selection of liqueurs are just some of the treats awaiting our guests when they arrive. Guest access Our guests are very welcome to wander through the vegetable garden so they can sit in the shade of the trees on the lawn of the main house. This part of our garden is very private and not overlooked and is very pleasant when the weather is hot. Other things to note Thorp Arch is an excellent base from which to enjoy the many delights Yorkshire has to offer. York has something for everyone, whether it is the Minster, the Jorvik Centre, the National Railway Museum or the Chocolate Story, cruising on the river, hiking the walls or meandering through the maze of mediaeval streets. (York is 20 minutes away, to the nearest Park and Ride). This area is awash with breathtaking stately homes - Harewood House, Castle Howard, Beningborough Hall, Newby Hall, to name but a few. All have wonderful gardens and offer a fabulous day out for the whole family. The North Yorkshire Moors and the Yorkshire coast make a lovely day trip. The Yorkshire Dales are equally accessible from here. EV Charging - there is no EV charging on site, however, there is an EV charger half a mile away in Boston Spa car park.
