Description

Perfect for two couples or a family an immaculate contemporary cottage in the Peak National Park, a stones throw from Chatsworth. A perfect spot to get away, relax and explore the stunning countryside right from the door. The cottage features beautiful outdoor spaces, a large stone fireplace with woodburning stove, wooden shutters, exposed beams, a fully fitted hand made kitchen, walk in rain showers and romantic roll top bath. BBQ on one of the two terraces or just relax and take in the view. The space Downstairs has a large open plan living/dining area with huge windows looking out across the valley, underfloor heating and a large log burner in a beautiful traditional stone fireplace, wooden shutters and exposed oak beams. There are 2 outside areas with seating and a gas BBQ. Upstairs 2 ensuite bedrooms with walk in rain showers and a sumptuous freestanding bath (king size bed and twin beds/super king). The cottage dates back to the 1700 and was originally built as a two storey barn for the main house which my parents bought as a ruin in the 1960s. We have lovingly restored it to a contemporary, light and airy space with loads of original features, vaulted ceilings, huge windows, fabulous bathrooms (that you will love!) and really comfortable beds with the best quality bedding and towels. Everything you need for a relaxing, luxurious get away! Wood Burning Stove laid ready to light with unlimited logs and a gas BBQ on the Terrace to sit and gaze across the paddock to the fields beyond where horses (and lambs in spring) are grazing. TV with Firestick for streaming your favourite films and programmes, Freeview and a DVD player in the Sitting Room Super fast WIFI Bluetooth Speaker in Sitting Room Books, DVDs and Board Games Complementary Soap and Shower/Bath Gel Fluffy cotton bath robe, bath towel and hand towel for each guest Hair dryers in each bedroom The best 600TC pure cotton bedlinen in white Beds with pocket sprung mattresses Down Duvets and Pillows as well as Non Allergenic on request Wooden coat hangers Re Kitchen: Washing up liquid, Liquid hand soap, Dishcloth, Pan scrubber, Washing up brush, Tea Towels (between 2 & 4 depending on length of stay), Apron, Dettox, etc are all provided Guest access Please do not go in the field with the horses. The rocks up on the hill behind the cottage are only accessible upon request please as we have guest accommodation there. Other things to note We are located up a gravel farm track just outside Birchover which is a small village, so a car is necessary. Very low sports cars may not like our drive. We have a Jack Russell and a Labrador who will be around and about the property; they are very friendly. We also have 2 horses who are in our fields. The staircase is handmade by a talented local craftsman, and it is quite steep with a tight turn which could be difficult for less mobile guests. We have converted the adjacent stables into a one bed cottage but the properties do not overlook one another at all and are both quiet and private. We are incredibly fortunate to have some amazingly talented craftsmen in Birchover who worked with us to create out beautiful cottage: Chris Fleming made the kitchen, the staircase, the windows (including the fantastic 2 storey arch), the internal wooden shutters and other pieces of furniture. Mark Eaton restored our fireplace and is a stone mason who does important commissions all over the country and featured on the Michael Portillo train journey programme. Nick Russell did the lion's share of the restoration and he has a great shop of architectural items and antiques in Darley Dale.
