(British Def: Villa - a detached or semi-detached house in a residential district) Only 3 miles to Woodstock, facing the Ashokan Reservoir, in a quiet wooded neighborhood, ideally located to enjoy hiking, biking, the Rail Trail and the Woodstock experience, while still being in a serene, modern space. A deck with BBQ, office space with printer, recumbent exercise bike, Turbo internet, cable and Roku TV, woodstove and onsite free parking, are some of the benefits of this villa. Cozy and quiet, this is a great getaway, complete with woodstove, library and games, deck with barbecue, office space with printer, pull out couch, recumbent exercise bike, large screen TV with Roku, DVD and high speed wifi services available. Brand new kitchen fully stocked with cooking tools, supplies and basic pantry items. Also, please let us know upon booking if you will need the sofa bed. It is not made up normally and only set up as requested; it also needs us to do it properly as it’s not a standard pullout sofa bed. The apartment is self sufficient. The key entry is explained closer to your booking date. Only the field as you come off the deck is really available at this time. We are onsite, and available to answer questions, but most information will be provided in the information book. A quiet neighborhood with other families, and a definite country feel. There are both wild animals (deer, turkey, groundhog) and domestic free roaming ones (cats!) So the neighborhood is lively to watch and take pictures. Note: the local fire house siren will never go off, as it is broken, so it’s pretty quiet here. Cars are the primary transportation, though there is a rural bus down on Rt 28, and taxis are available to call. We have provided breakfast supplies of coffees, teas, sugar, sweet and low, honey, and cereals and also pasta and sauce. Perishable basics are provided, such as milk, butter, oil, a small pack of eggs, and some spices. A toaster is provided, a Keurig machine, blender, ice crusher, and yes even a slow cooker and bread machine. It’s a pretty fully stocked kitchen, and there’s even an ice bucket or two! Our water is pure mountain water, the same that feeds the Ashokan Reservoir and NYC. We provide bottled water only for walking around town etc., as our wells are the best, not sulfur water! We ask that you use the compost bucket for plant/vegetable waste, and in NY state we must recycle (glass, plastic, cans, cardboard, and bottle returns) which we will dispose of appropriately. There is a separate garbage can for recyclables, as well as paper bags that help to separate them. We ask that these all be cleaned and dry when you leave. We are independent of city services so please remember that we use a septic tank, and nothing should be put into the system that is toxic or liable to block the pipes and tank. If you haven’t eaten it, you can’t flush it! This means no pads, tampons, feminine towels, condoms, etc.
