Farm stay in Gig Harbor
Description
Our 6 acre homestead is located just outside of the historic fishing village of Gig Harbor WA & a 1 hr drive or ferry to Seattle. We are 10 min from state parks, hikes, beaches, restaurants, water sport rentals, kid fun, & antique stores. You will be staying in a stylish TINY house (300 sqft) w/loft & private downstairs bedroom. Fresh produce, gardens, farm animals, & a homesteading family happy to introduce you to the animals and share their homesteading knowledge with you. The space Have you ever wanted to try out a tiny house or homestead living? Or just looking for a jumping off point for amazing pacific northwest adventures? Come for a visit! The Tiny House was designed to work for families, couples, singles or a group of friends who are happy being together in a cozy space (300 sq ft). That means 2 private bedrooms (1 loft with queen and single futon and stairs/safety rails; 1 downstairs bedroom with queen murphy bed and separated with sliding antique door). That also means a long farm table for gathering around (1 indoors and 1 outdoors!) and a long couch for game playing (that also folds out to single bed). We thoughtfully equipped and stocked the kitchen for you to make tasty food (eggs and fresh produce often available depending on the season). There is a small fridge and stove, and a large farmhouse sink! For the kiddos there is a basket of toys, books and games. Outside is another large outdoor table, firepit, bbq, lawn games and easy viewing and petting access to the goats and chickens. We also wanted this to be a space for creative work...writing, crafting, life/business design ... as well as a space for personal retreat. So the downstairs bedroom has a Murphy bed that when folded up creates an open yoga/meditation/movement space (yoga mat, provided!)...or a shelf moves down to create a small desk…. All while you look out through the french doors across the meadow at the chickens free ranging and the baby goats playing. The bathroom is small but functional with tiny sink, shower (baby bathtub available upon request and there is an outdoor bathtub heated by a water hose but no privacy walls yet so bring a bathing suit to enjoy it) and a fancy no-fuss, no-stink composting toilet. Don't worry, it really is not gross or intimidating :) We will arrange a time to tend to it during stays over 1-2 nights depending on how many people in your group. The tiny house was made using earth friendly building materials from local sources when possible (recycled denim insulation, non toxic paints, cedar wall siding, etc.) so you can breathe in healthy air and vibes during your stay. In alignment with our environmental values, our decor features stylish (not old lady like) antique/used and handmade items whenever possible. We also love to highlight local and ethical makers and vendors in the products we use in the tiny house. All proceeds from your vacation booking goes to homestead projects that improve the sustainabilty of the homestead....improving soil, creating habitat for wildlife, increasing food self-sufficiency, and future dreams of solar panels, rainwater catchment and aquaponics. It also allows us to grow into offering more homesteading/cooking/crafting/life design workshops for knowledge sharing so folks can bring more sustainable living ideas into their lives in a way that works for them! Guest access You have access to most of a 6 acre homestead including 3 acres of meadow/gardens with farm animals (chickens, ducks, bunnies and goats!), veggie and flower gardens, children's swingset/slide, sandbox, fire pit, outdoor farm tables, etc. The other 3 acres is forested. Please stay out of animal and garden fences! Other things to note Although we have a 6 acre homestead, we are semi-suburban so we do have neighbors on all sides of the homestead. Quiet times and neighborly respect is important to us! Please also keep in mind that we are a working homestead in progress. That means not everything is Pinterest perfect. That means how our property looks changes with the seasons. That means that although we receive high ratings for cleanliness and attention to the details, there might be a fly or bee that makes its way into your tiny house or some pine needles that blew in in the hour since we last swept. That means there may be projects in progress during your visit.
