Willow Creek farm has been looking out over the Jay Peak range for 106 years. Only a mile from the US/Canadian border, 50mn from Burlington and 1.25 hrs from Montreal -------------------------------- Situated in beautiful Northern Vermont, Willow Creek farmhouse-- built in 1910-- has been looking out over the Jay Peak range for the past 106 years. At the base of Pinnacle Mountain, on border between Richford VT and Frelighsburg, Quebec only a mile from the Canadian border. 9 miles from chic Sutton and Mont Sutton in the fabulous Eastern Townships of Quebec and just 75 minutes from Montreal; 18 miles from the base of Jay Peak, 56 miles from Burlington, VT and Lake Champlain. This classic Vermont farmhouse sits on 4 acres with a captivating view of the Green Mountains. The house can accommodate seven people comfortably in its 3 bedrooms: A large king Bedroom with an additional twin bed for kids, a Queen Bedroom and a Bunk room with Triple Bunks. A formal dining room, large living area with pellet stove, a sunroom/ library, and a large, fully equipped eat in kitchen with a nook overlooking the mountains. The two sofas in the living room are deep enough for a comfortable bed in the event you have a large group and need an extra space. This area is a "best kept secret": you can ski at Jay, Sutton, Smuggs, Orford or Stowe, snowshoe at Plein Air or Hazen's Notch, Dog Sled in Montgomery, hike the Long Trail at Jay Peak, or take the Tram...and easier way to the top! Sky biking through the trees at Au Diable Vert, navigate the Arbor Trek at Smuggler's Notch, or Canoe on the Mississquoi on the Northern Forest Canoe Trail that passes just in front of Willow Creek. Biking on the trails or back roads or picnicing at David Stromeyer's "Cold Hollow Sculpture Park"... Then hop over the border for wine tastings at Domaine du Rige in Dunham, Quebec, or shop in chic Sutton or Frelighsburg, Stop at Domaine Pinnacle on the other side of the mountain for some award-winning ice cider and apple brandy. Relax for the day at the amazing Balnea spa in Bromont, Quebec or the more rustic yurt spa at Les Chutes de Bolton-Est. Take a day in Montreal, it's only an hour and a half away...you can be back by evening to fall into bed at the farm. The number of outstanding restaurants in the area: The Inn or The Belfry in Montgomery or La Fontaine or Brouerie de Sutton in Sutton or La Sucrerie or Lyvano in Frelighsburg, Quebec or stop at the famed Abercorn bakery for some pastries or baguettes. Or just relax at the farm. Enjoy the pergola and firepit on the back hill or if it's warm enough eat under the Willow tree in a magical setting. The kitchen is amply stocked with everything to make huge group meals. We don’t have a TV here (intentionally), but we do have plenty of games, books, and we do have Wi-Fi in case you need to check that email (resist!!) or put a film on for the kiddies while the parents sip brandy by the fire. Note: Adults need a passport to get across the border (Kids under 16 years old can use their birth certificates. Best to bring adoption papers for adopted children). You will have access to the house and the grounds. I live in Winooski about an hour away, but i am often in the area and i have many friends that can provide any kind of assistance you'll be needing. I am easily reachable by phone at any time of day or night. Willow Creek is unique because you have the advantage of being in the wilds of Vermont's northeast Kingdom, near to the best ski areas (Jay, Smuggler's Notch). Swimming holes abound...waterfall hikes. At the same time you are just miles from Quebec's eastern townships with their culinary delights with loads of incredibly artistic and creative things to do in ANY season. You can easily fill weeks here without doing the same thing twice. Take a look at the Guidebook below for just a few of the things to do. (Zoom out to see LOTS more stuff to do. You'll need a car. In the winter it's best to have snow tires as it can get icy and they are required in Canada. To get the most out of this, you should ideally bring your passports. Going back and forth between Canada and the USA is easy...just a few minutes. Crossings include Frelighburgh and Abercorn/Sutton. Young kids under 16 years can get across the border using just their birth certificates. Adopted children should have proof of adoption ideally (if they ask). Groceries can be acquired in Enosburg at Hannafords or both in Sutton or on a more limited basis in Richford. Driving up here is best accomplished with winter snow tires as the roads can be icy from December to April. Snow tires are also required in Quebec.
