Old water mill in Prignitz

Living in an old water mill – a retreat in nature. Our water mill is located in the middle of the Schlatbachtal nature reserve, right on the Schlatbach and the old mill ponds. The listed mill is a three-sided courtyard with a romantically overgrown garden. The cottage is the main house of the mill, which has been ecologically renovated and expanded over the past few years. Enjoy the wonderful tranquility, sitting by the stream, the stars at night and the fire in the fireplace. The space Your holiday home in the old water mill The living area is located in the main building of the mill. The illuminated entrance from the street leads into a hallway from which you can go directly to the heart of the apartment: the open-plan living and kitchen area. Living Area: With a total area of about 60 square meters, the interconnected rooms offer plenty of space to relax and cook. From the kitchen, you have direct access to your own terrace and the garden. The kitchen itself is a special blend of old and new, equipped with original 1950s furniture and handcrafted wooden cabinets. If you like to cook, you'll love the **large gas stove** with four burners and extendable cast-iron hotplates. The heart of the living and kitchen area is the **large masonry heater**. It can heat the entire area, including the bedroom, quickly and for a long time. You can sit comfortably in front of the fire, as there is a small window to the fire in the stove. The stove can also be used for cooking and baking. Instructions on how to operate the stove are available on site. Wood for heating is provided at the mill. In the living area, you will find a large dining table as well as a cozy living area with a rocking chair and a sofa. The wooden double-glazed sash windows can be darkened from the outside with shutters. We also have a projector and screen so you can comfortably watch movies in the evening. From the living room, you can access the **first bedroom**. Here you will find a cozy **double bed (160 cm)** and a sofa, as well as a desk. For extra warmth, there is a small **wood-burning stove**. The windows can be closed from the inside with shutters. The **small bathroom** has a shower overlooking the garden. The entire living area has been **ecologically renovated** in recent years, using only natural materials such as wood, clay and lime. There are 3 more bedrooms facing the garden: the large family room, with its own wood-burning stove, a large double bed, and plenty of space to play or just hang out. From here, a door leads to the small bedroom with a wooden ceiling and another bed for two people. The family room is thus a walk-through room. The wooden staircase leads up to the very cozy fourth bedroom, which also has a wood-burning stove with a view of the fire, a wonderful view to the south over the garden and a large bed. The three other bedrooms are currently being renovated and furnished for you and will of course be ready from January 2027. They will be just as beautiful as the other rooms, and we will gradually add photos of the finished rooms here. Outside: A total of five buildings are clustered around the large courtyard, forming a unique setting. Behind the complex is a romantic, wild garden that invites you to relax and explore all year round. There are cozy spots all over the property: In the courtyard and right by the stream, you will find places to build a fire, grill and eat outside. The mill is located outdoors at the end of a small path, right in nature. The farm shop – your local organic shopping destination: We have set up a small farm shop in one of the mill buildings, where you can find almost everything your heart desires – and all of it is organic. We offer fresh vegetables, frozen rolls and pizzas, spreads, cheese, sausage, flour, and even toothpaste. You can buy everything you need for your stay right here. Since we receive deliveries for the farm shop once a week, we are usually on site from Sunday to Tuesday. During this time, we are in the garden house, which is completely separated from the rented area, and we are available to answer any questions you may have. The only permanent resident of the mill is the mill cat, Foxy. She is independent, but also very friendly and curious about guests, if you like. Location + directions: The mill is located 6 km north of the district town of Perleberg in Westprignitz. The building is in a secluded location with one neighboring building in the Schlatbachtal nature reserve. Of course, the mill is easy to reach by car, and there are also two parking spaces on the property. But even without a car, we are fairly well connected despite the location – we have our own bus stop 500 meters away on the country road. The bus runs every hour (on weekends as a dial-a-bus) directly to Perleberg. From there, you can take the train directly to Berlin or go anywhere via Wittenberge. You can also easily get to Perleberg in 20-25 minutes by bike. We ourselves have been commuting to the mill without a car for years. The neighborhood: The Prignitz region is very sparsely populated. Forests, fields, pastures and rivers invite you to go hiking and biking in a gently hilly area. The Elbe River Landscape Biosphere Reserve is only a few kilometers away and can be explored on various day trips. Our district capital, Perleberg, 6 kilometers away, is a gem, with a very nicely preserved old town on an island in the Stepenitz River. But Perleberg is not only beautiful; it also has a lot to offer: several good restaurants, including the "Knödel-Club," Brandenburg's Music Pub of the Year 2026, a few regional museums, a large zoo, canoeing and much more....
