Then you can explore the fjord on your own and take a boat trip to the bathing island 'Lille Danmark' or to the restaurants in Stangholmen. There are also several sandy beaches at gang distance in the area and a canoe rental. It is recommended to take the oldest wooden ferry in Norway, which is right in front of your feet, for a trip to the wooden house town Risør with salt water aquarium and several festivals such as the chamber music festival and the wooden boat festival. Jegertunet in the neighborhood offers a restaurant and tennis courts, as well as various events. You can also go horseback riding at Rønningen Gård or Hest i Villmark. For those interested in climbing, Skarvann Aktivitetspark offers several climbing walls. It is only 20 km to Stabbestad in Telemark with golf course, mini golf and ferry to Kragerø, the northernmost Sørland town in Norway. It is half an hour by car to the small animal park in Brokelandsheia. The place is also good for winter vacations with possibility of ice skating or ice fishing.
