Description

Authentic Miller's house with beautiful views in the Alblasserwaard. The house is located next to a historic Veltmolen (which is also rented) and was formerly inhabited by the miller. The space *Experience De Molenaarswoning: Authentic, rural and full of character* Step back in time and experience rural life in De Molenaarswoning, a charming and authentic accommodation in the middle of the Alblasserwaard. This special home, located next to De Molen, breathes history and offers a unique place to relax and enjoy the peace and nature. Although the Molenaarswoning has some characteristic peculiarities, this is precisely part of its charm. Here you will experience a holiday with a story, in the heart of South Holland. *An authentic experience with a touch of history* The Molenaarswoning is a somewhat older - not maintained - accommodation, which means that the floor may feel slightly crooked in some places. This is one of the unique features of this property, which tells its own story. The decor is authentic and simple, with a cozy atmosphere that perfectly matches the rural surroundings. Don't expect modern luxury here, but rather a stay in which you go back to basics and experience the charm of the past. What makes the Molenaarswoning special is its original character. Although the house is old and less well insulated than modern standards, the heating can make the space comfortably warm, even in the colder months. This may require a warm sweater, a warm cup of coffee or tea and a good book, but that only strengthens the feeling of coziness and togetherness. In the summer months, it can also get hot, because the accommodation also does not have air conditioning; with the screens present, the accommodation can cool down to the outside temperature at night. *A lively courtyard full of nature* The Molenaarswoning is located on the same shared property as De Molen. This means that you share the space with other guests and with the poultry that roam freely here. At first light, you can hear the chickens and peacocks completing their morning ritual, a natural alarm clock that reminds you that you are in the middle of rural life. This sound contributes to the special atmosphere of the place, but it is good to know that the days here start early. In the summer months, when the area comes to life, you can also find mosquitoes in the surrounding water. This is a typical feature of a water-rich environment such as the Alblasserwaard. We suggest bringing an anti-mosquito agent so you can enjoy the long summer evenings undisturbed. For children, there is plenty of fun to be had in the orchard with various playground equipment. For nature lovers, the water around the house offers opportunities for fishing. This water is partly private (no permit required) and partly public (permit available through local authorities). *Authentic comfort and practical amenities* Although De Molenaarswoning is simpler and more authentically furnished than De Molen, it offers everything you need for a comfortable stay: - Cozy living room: A simple but cozy place to get together, read or enjoy a cup of coffee. - Functional kitchen: Complete with a filter coffee machine and a Senseo machine. Don't forget to bring your own filter coffee and coffee filters (no.4) and Senseo pads. - Bedrooms: Cozy and simple, perfect for relaxing after a day full of activities. - Heating: Although the insulation is limited, the efficient heating makes the house pleasantly warm in the winter months. *The environment: peace, nature and adventure* The Molenaarswoning is surrounded by the beautiful nature of the Alblasserwaard. The famous Pieterpad runs directly along the yard, ideal for hikers looking for a unique route. In addition, excursions to Kinderdijk, Dordrecht, Rotterdam and even Amsterdam are easy to make. *Nearby* - Kinderdijk (15-minute drive): UNESCO World Heritage; the iconic Kinderdijk mills are a must-see. - Dordrecht (20 minutes): Historic ports, cozy terraces and the Dordrechts Museum await you. - Rotterdam (30 minutes): Modern architecture, the Markthal and the port city offer plenty of entertainment. - Amsterdam (1 hr): A day trip to the capital is a great addition to your stay. *Public transport* Limited availability, but easy to plan via the 9292 app. Car is recommended. *A stay with character* A holiday in De Molenaarswoning is an opportunity to experience rural life up close. It is a place where history, nature and simplicity come together. Although the house has some characteristic features - such as a sloping floor, less insulation and the early morning sound of chickens and peacocks - these actually contribute to the charm and authenticity of your stay. Come and experience it by yourself. Saar, the chickens, the peacocks and our team look forward to having you! Guest access Guests can use the entire place. The outdoor space must be shared with the guests of De Molen. Other things to note Important information about the bedroom layout of De Molenaarswoning The upper floor of De Molenaarswoning has a unique layout that is important to consider before booking. To ensure that your stay meets your expectations, we are happy to explain the details. The upper floor is only accessible via a steep staircase. This can be a point of attention for people with reduced mobility. Layout: When you reach the top of the stairs, you enter Bedroom A, which has a double bed (two mattresses next to each other). From Bedroom A, you have access to two other rooms: - Bedroom B: A small room with one single bed. - Bedroom C: A larger room with two single beds. NB!! To reach Bedroom B or Bedroom C, you must walk through Bedroom A. Although all three rooms are separate and each has windows, Bedroom B and Bedroom C have a door that opens directly into Bedroom A. Suitable for families or close groups This layout is ideal for families or close groups of friends who do not mind sharing access to the rooms. However, if you are looking for complete privacy between the bedrooms, this property may be less suitable. To give you an even better idea of the layout, we have attached a sketch of the floor plan to the photos in our advertisement. We recommend that you carefully review this information before you book so that you can enjoy a comfortable stay in De Molenaars House with the right expectations.
