Derwen – a Rustic Hut Retreat

Derwen is a unique retreat in the heart of our old sawmill. Once used by the late John Stephens as a timber-drying room where timber was wheeled inside on railway tracks. In the later years it became a sawmill staff room and timber store. We’ve now carefully transformed Derwen into a warm, characterful hideaway, preserving her industrial past while adding the comfort and craftsmanship you’d expect from a Rustic Hut. The space Derwen has 3 carefully designed rooms. A description of these are below but first it’s important to let you know something special! Although Derwen has a King Size bed in one room and a sofa pull out double bed in the dining/ kitchen room we also have something unique that we could also offer if you have a larger group. We have small mobile shepherd’s huts that we can position near Derwen for your family and friends to join you. There would be an added cost to this so please get in touch! Let’s hear about each room that Derwen offers! As you enter through the oak stable door you are welcomed into the first room. This first room is the kitchen /sitting room with a mini log burner. This space also transforms into a bedroom in which the sofa bed pulls out into a double bed. The second room is the wetroom with toilet, wash hand basin and shower. The third room is where you’ll find the king size bed with storage room for most of your luggage. Guest access Guests can use all rooms of Derwen, the outdoor kitchen area and Cold Tub with the warm outdoor shower! Guests can also share the fire pit social area with other guests. Other things to note We have 15 acres of land with ponds, streams and an ancient oak woodland for you to enjoy.
