Arbor Rose Room: Stay with us at our mesmerizing circa Victorian Home known as the "Sisters House". This garden estate was built in 1907 with 3 floors of ample space, elevator to second floor bedroom, sparkling original chandeliers, and wrap around porch w/ swing. Updated with modern kitchen, bathroom, central air for convenience. Less than 10 minute drive to downtown Portsmouth and Norfolk. 25 minute drive to Virginia Beach and other ocean front. Quiet and romantic retreat. House has pets. The space This room (and home) is for history lovers! You will be staying in a gorgeous room decorated with an antique solid wood furniture set that is original to the home and passed down through home owners. Enjoy the ambiance of an electric fireplace in bedroom and antique hand painted Italian rose chandelier over bed. Although no longer functioning, room still has indoor gas lantern fixture on wall. Other historical features of the room include immaculate original thick plank pine flooring, double paneled vintage windows, early 1900's door knobs, 10 foot ceilings throughout home, and authentic fireplace mantel. A must experience for those with an appreciation for well preserved historical homes priced at a value so all can enjoy! Enjoy the cast iron claw foot tub with shower in shared bathroom with original early 1900's crystal chandelier. Bedroom has private elevator from 1st floor to 2nd floor access and available if requested. Front porch decorated with dental molding and columns has large 5ft long solid wood porch swing and antique bench given as a gift to original, "sisters", owners of home in 1907 and well preserved for us to enjoy today. Dining room has a one of a kind rare coal burning fireplace insert from the 1800's made from cast iron, tortoise shell, and amber stone to amplify the warm glow from the burning coal. This incredible piece is no longer functioning but is a real gem to behold and made in Portsmouth! Bedroom has modern conveniences such as central air, electric fireplace, and flat screen TV with firestick. PLEASE NOTE, WE DO NOT HAVE CABLE. Kitchen is updated and modern with new stainless steel appliances and copper cookware. Guest access Free street parking available. Home is on a corner lot with street parking available in front and on side of estate. During your stay Please feel free to keep in touch with us via texting. The upstairs bathroom is exclusive to guests between the two rooms we rent.
