A Medieval Castle near Wilsons Prom

Description

Escape to a private medieval-inspired castle set among the rolling hills and forests of South Gippsland. Built over many years as a labour of love, the castle is filled with carved furniture, tapestries, stone floors, dramatic ceilings and one-of-a-kind details. Spend the day exploring Wilsons Promontory, local beaches, waterfalls and forests, then return to the castle, light the wood heater and settle in for the evening. The space Accessibility and property access Please note that this is a rural property with steep sections, uneven ground, gravel and unpaved driveways. Surfaces may become slippery, loose or unstable, particularly after rain. Access around the property may therefore be difficult for guests using wheelchairs, mobility aids, prams or strollers. Some areas may also involve steps, slopes and uneven outdoor surfaces. The property is not designed as fully accessible accommodation, and we recommend guests consider these conditions carefully before booking. If accessibility is important for your stay, please contact us before booking so we can provide more detail about the specific areas you will need to access. Guest access Guests have private access to the castle and designated surrounding outdoor areas during their stay. You are welcome to enjoy the courtyard and explore the areas of the property identified for guest use. Some parts of the wider property, storage areas, sheds, service areas and animal paddocks are not accessible to guests. Please do not enter fenced, closed or restricted areas. Sheep gates must remain closed at all times. Parking is available on the property. Please use designated parking areas and avoid driving or parking on lawns or soft ground. Please do not move antique furniture, artwork, replica weapons or decorative items. Other things to note ** Please read before booking ** This is a unique rural property and differs from a conventional holiday home. The grounds include several open, unfenced dams, steep areas, uneven terrain and gravel or unpaved surfaces. Children must be actively supervised by a responsible adult at all times, both inside and outside the castle. There is no fully enclosed yard. The property is home to sheep. They are generally friendly and may be fed small pieces of carrot or fruit through the fence. Please do not enter their paddocks and never open or leave livestock gates open. You may also see wombats around the castle in the evenings. Several local wombats regularly visit the surrounding grounds. Please observe them from a respectful distance and do not attempt to feed or approach them. We recommend not leaving shoes, bags or other belongings outside overnight, as wombats may investigate them and can sometimes leave droppings nearby or on objects. If you notice animal scat around the castle grounds, it is very likely from the local wombats and is a normal part of staying in a rural wildlife area. As this is a rural location, guests may also encounter insects, mud, fallen branches and changing ground conditions, particularly after rain. Many furnishings, decorative pieces and objects within the castle are antique, handmade or difficult to replace. Please do not move or handle display items.
