The space The Story of St Mark’s Chapel 📖💒 📍Welcome to St Mark’s Chapel, a beautiful piece of Hanbury’s history with a story stretching back more than 150 years. Built in 1872, the chapel was originally established as a Chapel of Ease to St Mary’s Church, Hanbury. Its purpose was to provide a local place of worship for the people living around Woolmere Green, who otherwise had to travel to the ancient parish church on Hanbury Hill. 🧱The chapel became known as St Mark’s Mission Church and served the local community for many years. Its simple Victorian Gothic design, traditional brickwork and tall arched windows are reminders of its original purpose as a small rural place of worship. 📜The history surrounding the chapel is even older. St Mark’s sits within a landscape shaped by centuries of farming, settlement and travel. The nearby historic Saltway, an ancient route associated with the Roman road network between Droitwich and the settlements to the east, runs through this part of Worcestershire. 🌾Over time, the chapel’s life as a place of worship came to an end. Today, St Mark’s Chapel has been given a new lease of life as a unique countryside retreat. 🤍Although the building is no longer filled with parishioners and Sunday services, many of its original features remain — allowing you to stay somewhere that is not simply a holiday accommodation, but a small piece of Hanbury’s history. We hope you enjoy being part of St Mark’s next chapter. 🍃✨💒 St Marks chapel offers a very open plan space for both upstairs and downstairs. 👨‍🍳The kitchen has all the amenities including Oven Fridge Freezer Washing machine Microwave Toaster It has a large breakfast bar where you can watch telly from or have a clear view into the garden and beyond out onto the rolling hill and open sky. ☕️Tea, coffee and sugar is provided as-well as some herbal options. 📺The lounge flows from the kitchen and is at the back of the property where you can feel cosy and cuddle up in front of the telly or relax and read a book. 🛋️The corner sofa does convert into a double bed that sleeps 2 guests.
