Close to Oxford (20 miles), Woodstock (8 miles), Chipping Norton (7 miles), Great Tew, Soho Farmhouse (1 mile), Blenheim Palace (8 miles), Silverstone Race track (18 miles) The space Welcome to our family home! We have lived here for 14 years and extended it from a small cottage into a spacious and stylish family home. It still has the cosy character of a cottage but the space allowing for larger gatherings. Friends and family can really spread out here. We have five proper bedrooms on offer – two have super king doubles, a queen size double, a generous twin and a spacious single with room for a camp bed. Downstairs we have a large formal sitting room, a comfortable living room and a fun playroom (the latter two both feature large flat screen TVs…). There are two separate dining areas – one in the large kitchen, and the other in the large sitting room. As an interiors stylist and author (‘Living in country style,’ published by Lannoo) I am passionate about homes and interiors. Our house is all about home comforts and understated style, throughout the seasons. Log burners, super comfy bedrooms and living areas make it a wonderful winter bolthole (and it is particularly lovely at Christmas). Plenty of bathrooms (three with baths, two with showers) mean that you’ll never have to queue! Hammocks, sun loungers, parasols and plenty of outdoor seating areas to admire the views across the parkland up to the cricket pitch make it a glorious summer retreat too. NEW SUMMER FEATURE - 3mx2m plunge pool. The garden is a particular feature – a quintessential cottage garden brimming with roses and honeysuckle. I must also show off the brand-new Georgian style summer house built by the man of the house himself, which offers another lovely place to sit/eat/soak up the sun that streams through its huge sash windows. He has also designed a well stocked vegetable garden (help yourselves!) and a tree house with swings and slide in the wood at the end of the garden. If you love unfussy, beautiful and comfortable English country style, then our house will probably be for you!! Other things to note We leave a welcome note offering advice and tips on local restaurants, pubs, walks, attractions. Babysitters and doctors nos etc available too. N.B •As this is our full-time, lived in and well-loved family home where we have lived with our three kids for 14 years, there is evidence of family life here! It is stylish, comfortable and characterful but not a glossy show home! When we rent it to Airbnb guests, we don’t strip the entire house down, and so there will be evidence of family life around-photos, books, toys in the kids areas et cetera. But of course the house will be scrupulously clean and tidy and there will be plenty of storage for your group in the bedrooms and kitchen. we tried to keep our personal stuff as I out of sight as possible but just don't take all of our belongings out. Hope that makes sense and it still appeals. Please no big party groups or hen/stag dos. As this is a family house in a quiet village we ask that our guests respect our home and our neighbours. If you are planning a big party weekend this is not the place for you. We might consider a single Friday or Saturday night weekend booking at higher price, £700 and maximum six guests. No children. Please get in touch if you’d like to enquire about a single night. NB 2 For the majority of the year we rent out a separate self-contained room to a lodger. It has its own entrance, staircase and bathroom and is situated above the garage at the far end of the house. Previous guests have not even been aware of our lodger’s presence and not crossed paths at all.
