Nestled in the peaceful village of Cocumola, Le Scuderie is less than 10 minutes from the Adriatic coast and perfectly positioned to explore Salento's charming villages, historic landmarks, exceptional cuisine, spectacular natural landscapes, and some of Italy's most beautiful beaches. The space This historic home has been expertly restored by local architects and artisans, carefully preserving the character and craftsmanship of traditional Salento architecture while providing every modern comfort. As you enter Le Scuderie Palazzo Rizzo, you are welcomed into a spacious open-plan living area beneath magnificent Lecce stone star-vaulted ceilings. The generous living space can accommodate an additional rollaway single-sized bed on request. The contemporary kitchen has been thoughtfully integrated into the original eighteenth-century stone feeding troughs and is fully equipped to make your stay comfortable. The large master bedroom features a queen-sized bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower and plunge bath. A second bedroom, also with a queen-sized bed, has its own en-suite bathroom with a shower. Quality linen, towels, and a hairdryer are provided. Between the bedrooms is a cosy reading nook—an inviting space to relax with a book or simply enjoy a quiet moment. Step through the rear door into a peaceful garden oasis, where a spacious limestone terrace overlooks citrus trees and the swimming pool. An outdoor food preparation area and a large dining table make alfresco meals effortless, while sun loungers and several seating areas provide the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring Salento or relaxing at the beach. Although the pool is shared with the owners, we make every effort to leave the space for your exclusive enjoyment whenever possible, so that you feel completely at home. Pool towels are provided. Le Scuderie is thoughtfully appointed with Wi-Fi, a smart TV, stovetop, oven, dishwasher, and access to a shared washing machine. Additional housekeeping can be arranged on request for an extra charge. Guest access Free parking is available throughout Cocumola and is usually easy to find around the piazza immediately outside the palazzo. During local festas and religious celebrations, you may need to park in a nearby side street. Once you enter through the large palazzo doors, Le Scuderie is via the courtyard on the ground floor. There is a step in and out of the apartment, and also a couple of steps up to the pool, but no stairs. Please note: once booked, you can request the address and the exact location of Le Scuderie Palazzo Rizzo. Other things to note The waters of Salento are renowned for their crystal-clear visibility and are ideal for swimming and snorkelling. You may wish to bring or purchase goggles and other equipment. Access to the Adriatic from the rocky coastline can be challenging for first-time visitors, so sea sandals are recommended. These are readily available in local shops. Walks and hikes through the surrounding countryside include the Via Francigena, which passes through Cocumola. This historic pilgrimage route forms the scenic final stretch of the ancient trail from Lecce to Santa Maria di Leuca, winding through rural landscapes centuries-old olive groves, traditional masserie, and specular coastal scenery. If heading out for a walk, remember to take a hat, sunscreen, and sufficient water, particularly during the warmer months. Le Scuderie has a shared swimming pool with the owners. You may occasionally see David in the mornings performing his daily pool-cleaning ritual! Please note that the pool is not enclosed by a safety fence, so young children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. A shared laundry is also available for guests' use. The apartment features two bedrooms, each with a queen-sized bed. On request, a single rollaway bed can be set up in the living area to accommodate an additional guest.
