Modern Bathroom A newly renovated, spa-style bathroom for a comfortable and relaxing stay. A Little Local History The plot of Holly Barn was formerly part of the Rothschild-owned Ascott Estate. Ascott House is now looked after by the National Trust and is open to visitors during the summer months. The Rothschild family were famous for their grand entertaining at Ascott, welcoming royalty and other prominent guests to the estate. Holly Barn also looks out over the former Southcourt Stud Farm, where Leopold de Rothschild bred some of his finest thoroughbreds. The stud produced numerous major British turf winners from the late 19th century onwards and welcomed regular vistors including Winston Churchill. Surprisingly Close to London One of the things we love most about Holly Barn is its location. Although you feel completely away from it all, London is remarkably accessible. Leighton Buzzard railway station is just a six-minute walk away, with fast direct trains to London Euston taking around 30 minutes on the fastest services, which run twice per hour. Spend the day exploring London, then return to the peace and quiet of the countryside. Explore the Local Area A 20-minute stroll will take you into the heart of Leighton Buzzard, with its historic charter market held every Tuesday and Saturday, alongside independent pubs, restaurants and shops. Nearby Parson's Close Recreation Ground has an extensive adventure playground, splash pad and sand enclosure, as well as regular events including free yoga and live music at the bandstand during the summer. Take a leisurely walk along the Grand Union Canal, where you can spot the resident swans, or try paddleboarding with local experts, subject to prior arrangement. There are a great selection of canal-side pubs to enjoy within walking distance including The Globe, The Grove Lock and The Three Locks. Just an eight-minute drive away, Rushmere Country Park offers more than 400 acres of ancient woodland, nature and trails.
