Refined, serene and like no other, Marlboro, VT.
Our elegant, supremely comfortable, and private guesthouse is surrounded by a wonderful garden and 350 acres of woodland in the quiet of rural Vermont. We are 30 minutes from Brattleboro to the east, with its many shops and restaurants, and 12 minutes from the small town of Wilmington to our west, with some restaurants, shops, and a supermarket However, we always recommend bringing groceries, etc., for your first night and next morning. We are pleased to offer a 20% discount for 7 days or more! Our property is 350 acres of woods, fields, streams, and a swimming pond (weather dependent)! We have extensive gardens for you to enjoy. Walking, biking, hiking, skiing, snow shoeing and touring by car are all options here. The guesthouse itself is a finely detailed, craftsman-built, and fully equipped retreat for two. It is a completely separate building from the nearby owners’ house. The setting is peaceful, the accommodations supremely quiet and filled with thoughtful details: the artwork is interesting, the bedding is refined, the sheets are 100% linen, and the bathroom is elegantly simple. The floor is polished concrete with the warmth of radiant heat. The whole space looks off to a light-filled southern view, beautiful all year round. Peace, peace, peace. The kitchen supplies include such basics as olive oil, vinegar, pepper and salt mills, ground coffee, black and herbal teas, jam, peanut butter, honey, maple syrup, ketchup, mayo, mustard, sugar and flour. The guesthouse is reached from the parking space by a descending internal staircase or by a sloping lawn alongside a charming garden to an outside door. The open living space is generous (over 600 square feet), with its own well-equipped kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom alcove. It has its own outdoor patio with a path inviting guests to visit the adjoining garden. We are experienced travelers ourselves and know how it feels to arrive and be welcomed as well as to be left to enjoy ourselves with the knowledge that someone is available as needed for questions or information. This is a lovely, rural Vermont dirt road, well-maintained all year round and about two miles from a main road. We have a nearby pond and a stream for swimming in warm weather. The stream has a magnificent waterfall much of the year and place to light a fire safely unless it’s too dry. Both of these delights are a few minutes walk from the guesthouse. Apart from miles of wooded trails, there are also beautiful open fields for walking. Your car is essential, and AWD is a help in winter as are all season tires. The local area provides a variety of cultural resources and all manner of outdoor activities throughout the year, not to mention galleries, shopping, and restaurants. We would be happy to advise on where to go and what to do.
