Casa de la Capilla is a wonderful restored old adobe home located on La Loma Plaza, updated for convenience but maintaining original charm. This house has been our personal vacation home for several years, so it is furnished and supplied as a private home rather than a rental. Tour Taos sites and sounds, walk to Taos Plaza, shops and museums or just relax by the kiva fireplace. Enjoy the private walled garden from the front porch. This is the perfect vacation home! Our vacation home is an old adobe that has been updated but has not lost its old world charm. It's located adjacent to historic La Loma Plaza - the first plaza to be built in Taos. The house is attached to the back of a charming old plaza chapel and is thought to have been the rectory, hence the name Casa de la Capilla. The chapel is no longer active but adds a wonderful touch to the quiet little plaza. We have outfitted our home for our trips to Taos, so you will find most every convenience you need. It is furnished with comfort and Taos charm in mind. WiFi is available throughout. The TV's are equipped with Apple TV giving you access to Netflix and many other program options. No rental style decor or furnishings here! Private walled and shaded front garden, fenced rear yard with outdoor dining area with barbeque patio outside the kitchen window all provide pleasant outdoor relaxation. You can enjoy the Taos evenings out on the front porch. Open the front door to view the kiva fireplace warming the living and dining areas. The living space is decorated with Native American art providing our guests with that special Taos atmosphere. The kitchen has a full range of appliances, cooking utensils and spices in case you may stay in for a meal or cook on the barbecue outside. Relaxation is the goal here and the house is set up for a great vacation stay. The sun room includes a desk with printer, TV, and sofa that converts to queen size bed. The large sliding door in this room provides a view of the back garden made private by the "coyote fence" that is typical Taos. Both bedrooms have queen size beds with fluffy pillows and comforters. The sun room is located at the back of the house providing privacy from the living area for guests using the fold out bed. We are pet friendly and your dog will be safe in the front and rear gardens that are fully enclosed. For additional house details, photos, and area info, you can also go to our website Casa de La Capilla which will bring you back to AirBnb to make arrangements to stay and enjoy! Our guests have complete use of the home and garden. The full kitchen is well equipped with quality cooking utensils and appliances including toaster/oven, coffee maker, blender and microwave oven. A binder will be on the table to provide information on local restaurants, places to go, museums and galleries. It also reviews the history of La Loma Plaza and how our adobe home is part of it all. We loved it so much we moved to Taos! So we are available and just a few blocks away when needed but also respect our vacationers' peace and privacy. Taos is a great place to stay. Every season offers different activities - almost too many to mention. Active vacationers have the option of mountain biking in summer or skiing the slopes in the winter, river rafting, hiking, fishing and other outdoor sport summer or winter. If history and art are your passion, Taos is for you as well. Incredible museums, galleries and historic homes are all around. And don't forget Taos Pueblo! An amazing experience as well as a National Monument! The immediate neighborhood is residential, safe and secure. Most homes are occupied by full time owners rather than vacation rentals. Many things are within close walking distance of Casa de la Capilla, including Taos Plaza (only 3 blocks away), Harwood Museum and Kit Carson museums, and many galleries, shops and restaurants. Most vacationers arrive by car so they have convenient transportation. There is easy parking right by the front door of our home. If you have additional cars or a trailer/RV, there is more parking available next door. You will notice when you arrive that our casa is attached to the side wall of a tiny chapel, or capella, in Spanish. The house was originally built as the church rectory as part of historic La Loma Plaza. The chapel provides for a peaceful space and is not currently active. If you want to know what is going in Taos and the surrounding area during your stay, our Facebook page is Taos and more. We post all kinds of things including a daily list of events taken from Taos News. PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO COVID MASKS ARE REQUIRED IN TAOS. New Mexico requires visitors coming from some states, including Texas, to quarantine for 14 days or, if staying a shorter period, to quarantine for the time that they are here. please visit the New Mexico travelers information to determine if you will be traveling from one of these states.
