Description

Welcome to our 5-acre regenerative urban farm in Central East Austin! A true restful retreat in the city - take a deep breath and settle in. Enjoy fresh produce & more from the on-site farm stand, say hi to our friendly chickens, and relax in a peaceful setting just minutes from the downtown, COTA, and the best restaurants & nightlife in Austin. If it rains, get cozy on the tin-roofed porch. This is a place with lots of history - ask your host for a tour of the historic 1841 farmhouse! The space Located on Boggy Creek Farm, the Dog-Trot House features two units separated by a 12' breezeway. Built in 2012 and inspired by an 1845 Texas farmhouse, it blends historic character with modern comfort. Much of the wood throughout—pine, oak, walnut, and pecan—was locally salvaged and milled, giving the home a warm, unique feel. Your unit has a private driveway and entrance. Inside, the full kitchen includes a refrigerator, oven, stovetop, microwave, coffee maker, and a selection of coffees and teas, plus a pantry and full-size washer and dryer. The kitchen opens to a bright living area with a sofa, chairs, coffee table, and Roku TV, with windows overlooking the farm’s crops. A short hallway leads to the slate-tiled bathroom and two private bedrooms, each with a queen bed, side tables, charging lamps, and ample closet space. Soft linens, cozy towels, and thoughtful décor make for a comfortable, welcoming stay. Guest access You will receive the electronic door code 24 hours prior to your reservation. Parking is in front of the unit, in the lawn or driveway. You will have access to the large back porch overlooking the farm, which provides a very scenic view of the field. You are sure to enjoy the exquisite mornings and evenings! We welcome you to walk the entire 5-acre farm at your leisure. You will see various crops growing in the fields, visit the hen house, and see the historic 1841 farmhouse. Our farm stand is open Wednesdays through Saturdays 8am-1pm (in August only Wednesdays & Saturdays). All guests receive 10% off of everything we sell including our hyper fresh produce, eggs, locally sourced meats, cheeses, baked goods, honey, chocolate, coffee, even t-shirts, specialty soaps & more. Other things to note If you are a light sleeper: the historic railroad a few blocks east has some occasional activity at night as it crosses several area roadways. This is not a problem for most, but may be for some. To us here on the farm it is a sound that evokes nostalgia, reminding us of a simpler time when the railway finally reached Austin creating endless opportunities for its residents, and for the farmers who were eager to truck their produce to other states in the U.S.A. Boggy Creek Farm is an ATX gem offering a serene, rustic venue. It's possible, however unlikely, that your stay may coincide with an event - you will be made aware of this early on and depending on the event, may receive an invite! There is a lot to do in Austin, and so much of it is close to the farm. You may enjoy taking advantage of some of these things: music, shows, comedy, theaters, museums, tours, restaurants & bars, shopping ~South Congress is fun!~, trails, parks, lakes & springs as well as many other sights to see and things to do. Some popular events in Austin that may interest our guests: *See North America's largest urban Mexican Free-Tailed Bat population take flight from under the Congress Ave bridge nightly at sunset. *Make lunch or dinner reservations at one of SoCo's great restaurants and peruse the many great shops along South Congress Avenue. *Visit Zilker Park and Barton Springs Swimming Pool *SXSW Film & Music Festival (March) *Austin Reggae Festival (Auditorium Shores- Apri) *Austin Wine & Food Festival (April ) *Fusebox Festival (April ) *Pecan Street Festival (May) *Republic of TX Biker Rally (at both the Travis County Expo Center and 6th St.- June) *Central TX Junteenth 2K, Celebration & Parade (MLK & Rosewood Park- June) *Blues on the Green - Austin's largest FREE Summer Concert Series in Zilker Park *Willie Nelson's 4th of July Picnic *Zilker Summer Musical (Zilker Hillside Theatre) *ACL (Austin City Limits) Music Festival (October) *Outstanding in the Field (@ Boggy Creek Farm- October) *Austin Film Festival (Oct 24-31) *Circuit of the Americas (COTA): Year round racing events, concerts & more including Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix *Austin Q2 Soccer Stadium, home of Austin FC
