Historical Water-Mill Near Prague

The oldest water-mill in the Central Bohemia, recently reconstructed, surrounded by peacefull landscape (private pond and tennis court). Easily accessible - situated just 20 min drive from Prague center. Ideal for relax - families or businessmen. The space This outstanding 3 floor apartment fits comfortably for 6 or 7 persons. There are 3 bedrooms, 2,5 bathrooms, spacious living room, fully equipped kitchen with a dinette corner and bar, big patio and an entry hall, Mill Room, with a well-preserved milling mechanism. There is also a possibility to connect it with another apartment (the other listing - Exclusive Water Mill Near Prague) for 4/5 people (in total accommodates 12 persons). Each apartment has its private entrance and patio. Nowadays, our water mill is a valuable monuments of rural architecture from the 17th century. It is a unique technical complex with a well-preserved water drive which is ranked on the list of cultural technical constructions of the Czech Republic. Our place is located in the middle of the recreation area in the picturesque valley of Mnichovice town, where you can find a murmuring creek right outside your door, from windows overlook our fishpond (at the moment there is a revitalisation going on so as soon as it is finished anglers are welcome) and hear the rustle of the dense wood behind the water-mill. Everything to make your stay never-to-be-forgotten is within reach. Prague city center, historical and cultural places of interest, favourite restaurants, widespread cycling and walking routes, convenient public transport and a 5 minute stroll to the town square with local stores, restaurants and pubs. Apart from above mentioned, there is a huge shopping center, hypermarkets, aquapark... reachable within a few minutes drive. Bed linens, towels and the keys to the apartment are available. We welcome guests to come and experience our extraordinary historical family heritage. Guest access Our guests are free to use BBQ and fish in our private pond. There is also possibility to play tennis or volley ball on the court which is placed by the water-mill (reservation is neccessary a day ahead and is charged at the place). We also grow our own herbs which you are welcome to help yourself when cooking. In addition, there is a possibility to rent a bike and enjoy cycle track in the region which goes along the water-mill. Other things to note It probably behoves to mention shortly about the history of our water mill. It is more than 400 years old, never went up in flames and has been preserved almost intact untill these days which is quite rare. In the middle of the 17th century, it was purchased from the Hradek County Demesne and became private. There were several owners before this estate was bought by my great, great, grandfather in the late 19th century and since this time it has become Zitta family heritage. During the previous regime, the building was confiscated, nationalized and gradually fell into disrepair. After the Velvet Revolution Communists left, my father restituted the run down building (birch trees were growing inside, cavings in ceilings and roof collapse etc.) and decided to go through a quite long and hard reconstruction while lumbering wood out of his forrest in order to save the water-mill. Thanks this constructive approach of the investor, he managed to maintain it and adopted the Zitta water mill for a new use which you are welcome to enjoy. Now you have the opportunity to be our first guests and observe the miller's industry, which used to belong to the most respected trades. Likewise, you can enjoy sleeping on the tiled stove made by sheep fur while overlooking the impressive and largest mill wheel in Central Bohemia. You are invited to travel in time to the days of our ancestors and enjoy the time here while being pampered by mill servants – miller´s assistants, miller´s wife...:-)
