Welsholme: Lakeside Tranquility & Fun since 1940

Our 3-season traditional family cottage on Boshkung Lake (on a 3 lake chain) has been enjoyed & loved by all who have entered. Now we invite you to create your own memories! Cared for with pride, Welsholme offers multiple indoor/outdoor spaces to gather & relax, away from routines & tech. A sandy, shallow waterfront surrounded by gardens & peaceful woods/trails, all set the scene for summer-time swimming & the splendour of Spring or Autumn hikes & cycling. Can you hear the loons calling you? The space The cottage is clean, cozy, casual and uncluttered. Large windows look out onto Boshkung’s beautiful, crystal clear blue waters, as well as green expanses of forest, gardens and lawn. The host’s home is next to the cottage and is visible from the front deck of the cottage. Welsholme is approx a 2-3 hr drive from Toronto. We are on a quiet country road, with trails close by for hiking, cycling and day dreaming. ***There is no wifi or TV*** Each bedroom has new comfortable beds, a dresser, bed side tables, closet, hooks, mirror, fan and heat…. baseboard in one, in floor heating in the other. We supply pillows, blankets, indoor towels and t-towels/cloths. ***Bring your own sheets (incl pillow cases) and beach towels*** We draw water directly from the lake. This water is appropriate for cleaning and washing, but is not suitable for consumption/drinking. ***Bring your own drinking/cooking water*** The efficient bathroom with toilet, sink/counter space, mirror and a 3/4 size shower stall is easily accessible to both bedrooms. Some toilet paper is provided. The kitchen offers most amenities including a Keurig coffee machine as well as a small table. S & P supplied. You will need to bring your own condiments and all food/ beverages. Some kitchen cleaning supplies are included. Kitchen and bathroom garbage/recycling bags are provided. In the hallway cupboard and off the larger bedroom you will find cleaning supplies and tools. Out back, just off the kitchen door, there is a BBQ. Food grilled on a bbq always tastes better! Enjoy using it but please turn off the bbq knobs (as well as the propane tank itself!) as soon as you have finished preparing your food. This will ensure you have enough propane for your stay. [Make sure the bbq is 100% cooled down before the cover is placed back over it!!] The large front room/dining room includes a foosball table, electric wall heater, comfy chair and footstool, mini fridge and dining room table/chairs. You will look directly out to the lake! The spacious living room has a baseboard heater, tables, chairs, two sofas and an electric fireplace - a lovely ambiance. Games and books can also be found here. Two of the chairs face the lake for another wonderful water view or can swivel to enjoy the conversation of those gathered closer to the fireplace. The 3 season glass porch is your entrance to Welsholme. Four comfortable chairs along with side tables offer a fabulous gathering spot for appetizers and more! Once again, another marvellous view to the lake and forest beyond. The deck wraps from the entrance, all around the porch and up to the dining room. Deck furniture and a large picnic table provide more outdoor space to gather, dine, snack, and simply RELAX! Our fire pit is there for you to enjoy your evenings star gazing. The Milky Way is often visible! Bring your own firewood… we may or may not have some to get you going. Welsholme’s waterfront really is special. Imagine your feet cushioned by velvety soft sand as you wade or swim for quite some distance out. If you prefer to venture out a ways and explore Boshkung, two kayaks and a few select water toys are available. Others may simply wish to relax under a sun dappled sky in chairs by the water’s edge. Guest access You will have the entire cottage and property to yourself. It’s awesome! Please keep the stone staircase as your visual guide to the eastern edge of the property. The woods delineate the western property line. We ask that any area marked as off limits with a Private sign be respected. We are your neighbours. We aim to give you complete privacy during your stay, as we also enjoy ours. If however, you have a question or concern, feel free to contact us via the App or you may call us by using the numbers provided in the cottage book. We’ll get things sorted out! Other things to note A few areas on the property are off limits and marked as such. We ask you to respect these Private signs. Thank you. The small hamlet of Carnarvon offers a convenience store, LCBO, restaurants, mini golf and limited entertainment. For groceries, shopping, more entertainment and activities, LCBO and The Beer Store, and some lovely water settings and parks, Minden would be a wise choice. Haliburton is a slightly larger town center with more choices of everything including a fabulous bookstore housed in an old restored barn. Sir Sandford Fleming College is also located there and offers highly sought after summer art courses. The closest hospital is in Haliburton. They offer a walk-in clinic.
