Description
Pinetree Lodge is a romantic, luxury Cotswold getaway, nestled in its own small, enclosed wood on our active working sheep & arable farm. A peaceful place where you can unwind and reset. Great outside living provides a bbq/fire pit with accessories on request to roast or do one-pot meals and a gas BBQ too. An efficient wood burner provides ample warmth on colder evenings and during the winter months. The Kitchen is basic, a little gas stove gives for a nice cuppa and a breakfast fry up indoors. The space The Lodge has been a dream of mine for years and a wonderful Australian couple have made my dream a reality! Literally from a pencil drawing I gave them on a scrap of paper, they lovely created my beautiful bespoke, cosy, luxury tiny home where guests can unwind and have a wonderful time away from the rest of the world! The small wood it's has been built in is only a short distance from the hustle and bustle of the farm but this only adds to the feeling of being out in the true and very real countryside. There are sunsets most evenings and footpaths that run straight from your door, gorgeous Cotswold villages to visit and scrummy places to eat. This year we have added a cast iron bath tub outdoors, at the moment it is only cold water, great for the hot days and anyone who likes cold water swimming without the swimming! But, there are a couple of large kettles to use on the fire pit to heat water to make the bath warmer, no bubbles though please as the water runs straight into the water course. Please be aware because the bathtub is situated outside it does have some orange staining in the bottom but is cleaned between guests and does not affect the cleanliness and use. also you may find a few leaves and pine needles. It's definitely a place all to yourself, a space in the heart of the countryside to enjoy, for the majority it's peaceful and tranquil, but maybe with an occasional visit from the friendly farm sheep dog, Woody and even our new pup Nellie or the hum drum of the tractor beavering away, nature at it's best! It's conveniently close to all local amenities without knowing it! We have 2 great pubs, fabulous local butchers and a mini Morrisons shop with all you need. You are close to all the most beautiful Cotswold villages, Chipping Campden, Broadway (my favourite), Bourton on the Water, Moreton in the Marsh, Stow on the Wold. Your local town is Stratford upon Avon, Shakespeare's birth place. National Trust Gardens, Hidcote Gardens and privately owned gardens at Kiftsgate Court where the famous Kiftsgate Rose comes from. There is so much to do in the area and places to see. Please read 'Other things to note below' before you book. Guest access There are ample walks straight from the Lodge through the Farm, taking you to the local gardens, Hidcote Gardens/National trust and Kiftsgate Court gardens which are privately owned but beautiful and to the village pubs, shops and even further if you like. Chipping Campden is the start of the Cotswold Way, with the first stint of the Way bringing you into Broadway, which is a lovely walk and takes around 3-4 hours depending on your energy levels! There are buses running from Mickleton all over and the local train stations are Honeybourne, Stratford upon Avon and Moreton in the Marsh. Other things to note At quieter times of the year, usually between Mid October and March the Lodge is available for two night stays but generally it is a 3 night minimum. Please make sure you are a good fire lighter in the winter months! as this is the only form of heating, it is extremely efficient and can be kept going through the night. I will always light the fire for you so it is warm and cosy before your arrival if I have a rough eta. And always on hand to help if you have problems lighting the fire. Please be aware there are only usb ports for charging run off solar and no three pin plug sockets, a power bank or electricity can be in an emergency. Important information: Regarding noise and our Friendly Collie, Woody! Woody, our gorgeous working Collie: Woody is a very important and brilliant sheep dog helping us daily with our large flock. Apart from sheep he absolutely loves people and other dogs too! He occasionally pops over the Lodge fence (with ease!) to socialise and play when he's not working. So many guests have encouraged him to do this to play with their dogs and be social over the past years that he now thinks he's always welcome. I am very aware not 'all' guests and their dogs will love Woody's and now, Nellie’s visits so we do really advise that you only book the Lodge if your dog is sociable and friendly too and you don't mind if they possibly pay you a visit. Or just tell him to ‘get out’! Noise: Our farm is a busy working farm, 90% of the time the Lodge is totally peaceful but there are certain times of the year where this may differ. During our Lambing Months February to the end of March when the ewes are indoors you may here the beeping of the JCB as it reverses out of the near by barn during feeding times, but this is only for a very very short time, you are welcome to come and visit the lambing sheds during your stay if you would like to. In the height of the Summer you will very likely hear the hum drum of the combine harvester munching it’s away through fields of corn, especially if this is the crop in front of the lodge! A beautiful sound and sight as the sun sets behind but fairly noisy all the same! Harvest is a very busy, and can be stressful when battling against the English weather sometimes. Equally the planting season is too when the tractors are busy getting the land ready for next seasons crops. Occasionally there may be an early start or late finish, as a farmers job is 7 days a week and all hours at certain times of the year. The Lodge is usually not affected and is on the edge of the Farm with only a couple of surrounding arable fields. We hope this all adds to the appeal of your stay on our farm, but mostly we hope that your stay is a peaceful one :)
