The space CALUSA COTTAGE: HISTORIC LAKEFRONT LIVING Welcome to Calusa Cottage, a beautifully restored 1954 lakefront bungalow set on 1.5 secluded acres with approximately 200 feet of private shoreline on Crooked Lake. Thoughtfully designed for gathering, the 3,322-square-foot, single-story home pairs original maple floors and a historic fireplace with richly layered interiors, vintage quilts, collected furnishings and modern comforts. The mature landscape and generous waterfront setting give the cottage a wonderfully private, away-from-it-all feeling. THE LAKEFRONT Life at Calusa Cottage revolves around the water. Step outside to a natural white-sand beach characteristic of Crooked Lake and the Lake Wales Ridge, swim from the shore or private dock, and settle in for magnificent sunsets directly across the lake. Crooked Lake is a protected Outstanding Florida Water celebrated for its natural beauty and clear water. Several patios and seating areas offer peaceful places to enjoy the lake throughout the day, while two large outdoor picnic tables provide ample room for group meals under the Florida sky. An outdoor shower makes it easy to rinse off after swimming and long days by the water. BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS The home has four bedrooms and four full bathrooms, including three unusually spacious king suites: • Bedroom #1 (Lakeview King Suite): King bed, beautiful lake views, private en suite bathroom with shower and a walk-in closet. • Bedroom #2 (Second King Suite): King bed, private en suite bathroom with a large shower, generous reach-in closet and Smart TV. • Bedroom #3 (Bunk Room): Two sets of full-over-full bunk beds, providing four full-size beds in total. This cheerful room includes a collection of children’s books and toys and uses the adjacent hallway bathroom with a shower-and-tub combination. Each full-size mattress is big enough to accommodate 2 children comfortably. • Bedroom #4 (Garden King Suite): King bed, peaceful garden views, private en suite bathroom with a shower-and-tub combination and a reach-in closet. Blackout curtains are provided in the bedrooms, with white-noise machines available in select rooms. Because the entire home is arranged on one level, there are no interior stairs to navigate. GATHER, DINE & UNWIND The enclosed sunroom is a favorite place for morning coffee, family games and relaxed meals overlooking the property. Throughout the house, guests will find multiple gathering spaces, carefully collected décor, books and board games for quiet evenings or rainy afternoons. There are three distinct dining areas: • An indoor dining table with seating for six • Four additional seats at the kitchen counter • A sunroom dining table with seating for four • Outdoor picnic-table seating for up to 14 The fully equipped kitchen includes new Café appliances by GE, standard cookware and dining essentials, plus both a traditional drip coffee maker and French press. Approximate driving times: • 10 minutes to Lake Wales • 15 minutes to Bok Tower Gardens • 20 minutes to LEGOLAND Florida and Peppa Pig Theme Park • 60 minutes to Walt Disney World, traffic permitting Whether your plans include theme-park adventures, swimming from the dock, family dinners beneath the trees or simply watching the sun disappear across the lake, Calusa Cottage offers a memorable setting for time together. Guest access Guests have private access to the home, its lakefront grounds, natural beach, outdoor shower and private dock. Swimming is permitted from both the shoreline and dock. There is ample complimentary parking on the property. A small number of clearly marked owners’ closets remain locked and are not included with the rental. Other things to note • Standard pricing covers up to 8 registered guests. Guests 9–14 are welcome with advance registration and an additional fee of $75 per guest, per night. • Only registered overnight guests are permitted on the property. Please enter the correct guest count when booking and notify us in advance of any approved changes. • This booking does not include any boat rentals. Guests may bring their own boat and use an off-site launch. Bob’s Landing provides direct access to Crooked Lake and has historically charged a fee. Little Crooked Lake Boat Ramp is at 1098 Keen Park Road in Frostproof, with canal access toward Crooked Lake. Conditions and navigation access can change, so verify before launching. • Calusa Cottage does not accommodate pets. • The property has direct, unfenced access to a natural lake, beach and dock. Children must be closely supervised around the water at all times. Swimming is at your own risk, and no lifeguard is present. • Crooked Lake is a natural Florida environment. Birds, insects, reptiles and other wildlife may be present. Please enjoy all wildlife from a safe and respectful distance and never feed or approach wild animals. • The home has no interior stairs, but it has not been represented or certified as ADA-accessible. • A full-size crib is available with advance notice because it must be assembled before arrival. • Smart television service and Wi-Fi are provided, but the home does not have traditional cable television. • Several clearly marked owners’ closets are locked and unavailable to guests. • We recommend purchasing travel insurance for additional protection. The cancellation policy shown at booking applies to the reservation and cannot be modified afterward.
