The Carriage House near Leeuwarden

Rural location on the Elfsteden route, on the edge of the Leeuwarder forest we rent out our "6 person coach house". The former coach house we have converted into a beautiful apartment and is next to our farm with private terrace on the south. Do you want to stay in a quiet environment where nature plays the main role then this apartment is for you. We, Ate and Gerda are owners since 2016 and have made our farm in Jelsum completely sustainable. Since 2016, we have transformed our farm into a sustainable and welcoming place where peace, nature and comfort come together. You will stay in the heart of the Frisian countryside, along the famous Elfstedentocht route and on the edge of the Leeuwarder Bos. At the same time, Leeuwarden is only a 15-minute bike ride away. Here you enjoy the best of both worlds: peaceful nature with the city close by. The Coach House This spacious apartment accommodates up to 6 guests and is fully equipped for a relaxing stay. Nature & Surroundings Enjoy the sunny south-facing terrace with wide views over the Frisian fields. On our farm you will find sheep, ponies, horses and ducks. Storks and deer are regular visitors too. From the Coach House you can easily explore the area by bike, on foot or by water. We offer rental of (electric) bikes, SUP boards and a silent electric boat. Thanks to our private boat ramp, you can also bring your own small boat. Cycle part of the Elfstedentocht route, take the little ferry to Bartlehiem or enjoy a meal in Wyns. Fancy a beach day? In just 22 minutes you can drive to the ferry for Ameland. Extra fun for children We offer pony activities for an additional fee, such as grooming, cuddling or a guided pony ride. Guest access Classification: our new apartment has a modern kitchen with dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, hob and microwave. A separate toilet and a bathroom with double sink, shower and washing machine. In the master bedroom is a luxury box spring from Swiss Sense. You will also find a staircase to the loft where bedroom 2 is situated. Here you have 2 separate beds which can also be made into one large bed. In the spacious living room you will find a 6 person dining area, a sitting area and TV. (free Netflix and Wifi) There is here also a loft with stairs to sleeping space number 3. You have 2 separate beds where you can also make 1 large bed. The bedrooms on the lofts are only reachable with a staircase and are open and therefore not suitable for small children. Free coffee and tea. We speak: Dutch, English, German Other things to note The bedrooms on the lofts are only accessible by stairs. In the guesthouse there are 2 staircases to the loft. Small children will need guidance when 'climbing' on this staircase. Around the country house there are several ditches that are not protected. Parents will therefore have to keep an eye on their small children themselves. We are located in a small town next to Leeuwarden. If you do not travel with a car, it is advisable to rent a bike. We are a quarter of an hour away from Leeuwarden by car (7 km) or bicycle (4 km). On foot the journey time to Leeuwarden center is 1 hour. If you are not traveling by car, it is highly recommended to rent a bicycle. We are located just under 15 minutes from Leeuwarden by car (7 km) or bicycle (4 km). On foot, the travel time to Leeuwarden city center is 1 hour. We rent out 2 new electric bicycles and 2 regular bicycles. Pick-up and drop-off service from the station by electric car is available by appointment; the cost is 10 euros return. Ask about the possibilities!
