The space Charming Cottage in a Tranquil Setting Nestled in the heart of nature, this cozy cottage is the perfect location for those looking to escape the urban environment and immerse themselves in the beauty of the County. This property offers a variety of outdoor activities, including a complimentary canoe for guests to enjoy Black River, which runs all the way from Milford to Lake Ontario. Comfortable Accommodation: Upon entering the property from the ground floor rear door, you'll find a closet to your right and a small mudroom to your left. Two bedrooms - one with a Double bed and another with two Twin beds - are next on the right hand side. A 4-piece washroom is across the hallway, next to which is the entrance to the basement. Around the hallway corner you will walk past the kitchen (fridge with freezer, stove, oven, dishwasher) on your right and enter the large living room. There are sofas and a fireplace, sliding doors to the outdoor deck, and an internal dining table on the right hand side. The kitchen has its own door to the outdoor deck, which leads to the open-air dining area and BBQ. There is also a wooden ramp leading down to the grass for those guests using a wheelchair or pram. From the living room, take the stairs up to the master bedroom, comprising a King memory foam mattress and a 2-piece bathroom (toilet and sink). There is also a work area just outside the bedroom, next to the stairs that take you back to the ground floor. If guests require laundry facilities, a washer and dryer can be found in the basement (entrance is next to the main floor bathroom). Central air conditioning and a HEPA air filtration system ensure guests stay comfortable, making this property ideal for allergy sufferers. Nature Abounds: For nature enthusiasts, there are a number of great spots for birdwatching along the river and up on the escarpment. This property is truly a nature lover's paradise, offering peace, privacy, and plenty of opportunities for outdoor exploration. Please make sure you dress appropriately when walking through the woods. Breathtaking Views and Peaceful Relaxation: The Great Room offers spectacular views of the river, framed by two sliding doors on either side of the central stone wood-burning fireplace. A small library with naturalist books adds to the peaceful ambiance, perfect for unplugging and unwinding. Outdoor Amenities and Waterfront Access: Step outside to enjoy a screened-in dining area, a wooden patio facing the river, and a gas BBQ for evening meals. The property also boasts a dock suitable for launching canoes and kayaks, giving guests access to the water for exploration. Please note that water levels on the river can change over the season, which can make entry more difficult. Close to Wineries and Sandbanks Provincial Park: Located just 30 minutes from Sandbanks Provincial Park and 15 minutes from Waupoos Marina, this PEC rental offers easy access to some of the best attractions in the area. The property is also surrounded by several renowned wineries, including Lighthall, Long Dog, Exultet and Half Moon Bay, and not far from the County Cider Company in Waupoos, making it an ideal spot for those wanting to explore the region's wine scene. Important Information for Guests: Please note that the property is located at the end of a long unpaved road. For your safety, it's recommended to use a vehicle with good suspension and clearance. The road has a steep decline that winds through the woods, so guests should drive slowly and aim to arrive before dark. Guest access The entire property is available for the duration of your stay. Guests are encouraged to take the opportunity of walks in the woods, and when doing so to take adequate protections against thorny plants and bugs, including ticks. Guests arriving with bicycles will find both the property and the surrounding area a great place to discover. Milford is around 10km from the cottage by bike. Other things to note On clear nights by the river there are tremendous stargazing opportunities from the front deck. Please note that despite being on the river, Black River Cottage is not a suitable location for swimming. The dock is best used for fishing and launching the canoe. Guests using the canoe and paddles do so at their own risk and are expected to supply their own lifejackets. Also note that water levels on Black River can vary over the course of the seasons, which can limit canoe access from the dock. Guests should also note that for safety reasons, fires are not permitted outdoors. Finally, as with all natural locations in the County, guests should take some precautions about mosquitoes and ticks when walking in the woods. STA licence no. 2019-0281
