At the farm enjoy a picnic or stargazing at the observation deck in the upper field, a cozy fire in the front yard, a good book on the porch swing or dinner on the back deck surrounded by trees. Lansford Farm is 12 miles from Branson West, 17 miles from Silver Dollar City and 20 miles from Branson. The space A tucked away gem where another house cannot be seen, this superbly maintained 1922 Sears Bungalow has everything you could want for a refreshing stay in the country. The parking area is to the right of the house (tall vehicles watch out for the low lines). There is a lit path to the front door. On the door you will find a keypad entry. Enter your number and press the Teeho button on top to unlock. To lock, press any button and hold it until you hear the lock engage. There are many lovely things to discover on Lansford Farm’s 28 acres. Hike or drive to the observation deck next to the barn in the upper pasture where you can see the Milky Way at night (and much of Stone County on a clear day). Discover the trail that leads to the family cemetery where renowned old-time musicians Kim and Jim Lansford lay to rest under the big white oak. Walking back up to the house you might see deer, birds, groundhogs, raccoons and all sorts of wildlife. Speaking of wildlife, be sure to spray your clothing, shoes, and exposed skin to keep the ticks and chiggers away, especially during the summer months! At the house relax on the back deck where the sounds of the Ozarks mix with a Japanese inspired fountain by local artist, Lee Robertson. Prepare a delicious meal in the well appointed kitchen and enjoy with family or friends on the deck's hand painted dining table. The front porch swing calls for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and a good book. It also is a great place to listen to and to spot the many varieties of birds that call Lansford Farm home. Inside it's all about comfort. Original local art covers the walls. Soft leather furniture invites you to kick back and enjoy the Bose CD player, Bose smart speaker or Smart TV. The dining room table easily seats six. Original Wes Wilson portraits of Kim and Jim of traditional music fame hang over the coffee bar which offers almost every way to fix coffee or tea (sorry, no Keurig). The cabinet near the dining table houses the wine and cocktail glasses. The kitchen is a chef’s dream if you are into cooking. Everything's there except your groceries: microwave, toaster, full-size refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher and a state-of-the-art oven/stove. An extra standup freezer is in the basement as well as washer and dryer, just be super careful on those stairs! A few things to note about the house and property: this historic farm house is over 100 years old, please treat it with respect. We do put small sticky traps to catch insects behind some of the furniture. The attic is not accessible for guests at this time. The fireplace is inoperative cannot be used at this time. The garage and guest house are also not for guest as we are renovating these structures. Just a short 1/2 mile drive or walk from the Lansford Farm is downtown Galena featuring the county courthouse, the library, The Farmer’s Daughter Cafe, the county jail and the Historic Y Bridge that spans the James River and is now a foot bridge. There is a small park and playground at the entrance. On the other side of the Y bridge is the Cox Memorial River Access, off of hwy 248, for boat access. There are serval outfitters who can transport you to the accesses up river. The James River is known for its fishing, kayaking, canoeing, tubing and paddle boarding. Guest access Guests will have access to the whole house except for the attic which is blocked off while we work on renovations. You also have access to an enormous deck and yard. The side yard has a lovely fire pit with comfortable chairs and a grill. The basement has a washer and dryer and an extra standup freezer. The guest house is also being renovated so, at this time, we ask that you not go onto the deck or into the house. The garage is also off limits. Feel free to walk the path up to the observation deck in the upper pasture where there is a picnic table in front of the old sheep barn. Please remember to monitor your kids. There are hazards to living in the country like poisonous snakes, stinging insects and poison ivy. Make sure anyone is aware of what is outside and take precautions. We are not responsible for accidents. Other things to note The Lansford Farm is pet friendly but please be aware that pets must not be left alone in the house unless they are in secured kennels. Also, if your pet is going to be on the furniture please cover furniture with sheets from the green bag in the linen closet or use your own covers. Your pet must be on a preventative tick and flee medication! We love animals and want them to feel at home just make sure they are being monitored. The backyard is NOT completely fenced although there is a small fenced kennel you could use for short periods of time. Also, absolutely no smoking of any kind inside the house. Smoking is permitted on the back deck or front porch. The side parking area has low phone wires. Be aware if you are driving a tall vehicle.
