Dartmoor Home in Four Acres with Woodland & Meadow
Dartmoor Home in Four Acres with Woodland & Meadow
Description
Our home sits right on Dartmoor, a mile from Haytor Rocks. You can walk straight out the door and onto the moor, and on a clear day, you can see all the way to the sea. Recently renovated, sympathetic to the original mid-century style, with a brand new family kitchen. Three cosy bedrooms sleeping six, with an en-suite in the main room. Outside, wander the four acres, including a wildflower meadow, pond, woodland, outdoor dining with BBQ and firepit for evenings together. The space The house centres around the brand new kitchen with an induction hob, two ovens, Quooker tap, dishwasher, coffee grinder, and a good old-fashioned juicer. It's stocked as our own family kitchen with crockery, pots, pans, etc. Hopefully everything you need for a proper family holiday. The downstairs is open-plan style so the kitchen flows into the dining area with a big table for six and a record player. The living room has a deep feather-filled sofa to fight over, a log burner, Samsung Art TV, and a reading nook with views across the meadow. Upstairs there are three bedrooms sleeping six. One bedroom has an en-suite, and there's a family bathroom for everyone else. The rooms are comfortable and well looked after - it's our home, so it won't be magazine perfect, but everything you need will be there. Outside, we have four acres to wander, including a wildflower meadow, pond, a woodland to explore, and a terrace with outdoor dining, BBQ and firepit for evenings around the fire. Ample parking on the private drive, and fast WiFi throughout if anyone needs to work remotely. Guest access You can use the entire house and gardens, except the ground-floor office where we store our things. Other things to note Walking & getting around - Dartmoor is literally on the doorstep, with some great moorland walks starting right from the house. We've done all the trails in all the seasons and will share our favourite routes in the house guide. The neighbourhood - A walk down the hill (about 20 minutes) brings you to Ilsington village, home to our local pub The Carpenter's Arms and a brilliant little village shop open every day. On the way you'll pass the Ilsington Country House Hotel and spa with a small gym, spa, and two restaurants if you fancy a treat. Head up the hill instead to Haytor Vale, home to our second local, The Rock Inn, which is pretty well known around these parts and does an excellent Sunday roast. Further up is the Moorland Hotel - good for lunch, dinner, or a pint on the lawn or by the fire. Local area - There are some lovely villages a short drive away too. Widecombe-in-the-Moor is well worth a short drive, and Ashburton and Buckfastleigh are home to some of the best restaurants in the area - The Doe, Emilia and Vin Perdu are all worth a visit. The North and south Devon coasts are both under an hour, and there are some great spots nearby for a river dip too; Hembury Woods is our favourite! Please note this is our family home, so there will be personal belongings around. The upside is that the kitchen, bathrooms and cupboards will be properly stocked with the things you'd expect to find at home.
