The Melkstal
Description
Experience the Farm Life at "Die Melkstal" Guesthouse! Our quaint guesthouse started its life as a three point cow milking parlor in the early 80's. The parlor has been converted into a three bedroom self catering guesthouse. Being situated 12km from the nearest town of Heidelberg Western Cape, Die Melkstal is fairly close to the Route 62 and the start of the Garden Route. With little to no selfone signal or Wi-Fi, you can relax and unwind without distractions! The space While changing the milking parlor we tried to keep it as close to its roots as possible. The three compact bedrooms were converted from the old milking points where the cows stood whilst being milked. The feeding trough which were used to feed the cows are now your bedside table! It has a fully furnished kitchen and an outside braai area. The steamy hot tub is a wonderful treat in the winter and can be used to cool down in the summer. You will be able to feed the free range chickens and play with the farm cats who will surely come and visit you from time to time. There are even various species of wildlife to be seen - from Bushbuck, Grey Rhebok and even the occasional Springbuck! Lately two wild peacocks have been visiting the area. The farm is also free to explore - an excellent opportunity for jogging or even mountain biking. You will be staying on a working farm, so you might even get to see cattle and sheep grazing or being taken care of. Other things to note Please note that there is no WiFi and little to no cell phone reception. Due to the footprint of the old building space inside is limited.
