"Greenwell" - off grid Shepherd Hut

Get away from it all when you stay under the stars. This charming shepherd hut sits in the middle of a watermeadow. Views of Chanctonbury Ring atop the South Downs take your breath away, while the River Adur trickles gently nearby. Depending on the season, fall asleep to the sound of Nightingales, and wake up to the sound of the Cuckoo Completely off grid (no kitchen or en-suite bathroom), there’s a compost loo with hand washing facilities & a drinking water tap are nearby. The space PLEASE NOTE - ALL FIRES ARE BANNED DURING THIS EXTENSIVE DROUGHT Cosy shepherd hut, with views of the South Downs and the River Adur. Perfect spot for star gazing. Totally off grid, small solar panels charge phones and provide a little light at night, and a wood burning stove provides excellent warmth when chilly outside. Logs are £10 a bag. An eco loo is nearby, for your own private use. Inside, the table and benches convert into a comfortable double bed, with storage underneath. There is room for a travel cot. We provide a cool box to keep your food fresh, and a gas hob for boiling the kettle. Please bring your own cooking utensils, crockery & cutlery. Plenty of room to pitch a tent outside for extra guests, for an extra fee. A bbq is available for cooking, and an outdoor firepit for toasting marshmallows and keeping you warm whilst stargazing. Nearby is a public bridleway, and we provide maps for walks to excellent local pubs. A drinking water tap is available nearby. We have 2 other wild camping sites nearby, one of which shares the same field as the hut. You will only see each other when they arrive or depart. We ask all guests to respect each other’s privacy, and that of our residents, by keeping noise and music to a minimum, and sticking to the public footpaths. Guest access The secret location will be revealed after booking. Turn off the main road onto a bumpy farm track, carry on for about 1/4 mile, past a Saxon church, and The Shepherd Hut sits in a private, secluded watermeadow, which is solely for guest use. Nearby is a public bridle path, with excellent access for pub walks, and linking up to other footpaths. Other things to note There are no kitchen or bathroom facilities. This is an off grid shepherd hut, with a compost loo provided nearby, and a drinking water tap just a short walk away. It’s truly rustic and very charming!
