The local area The house is on a quiet lane surrounded by fields and low hills. The village of Cornellà del Terri is a few minutes' drive and has basic amenities. Majordoms Vila sits directly on the Via Verda — the greenway cycling route that runs between Olot and Girona — making it an ideal base for cyclists who want to ride from the door. The route passes through varied countryside with easy gradients, and connects to both the Banyoles lake circuit and the volcanic landscape of La Garrotxa. Banyoles The nearest town of any size is Banyoles, roughly 10 km away. It is best known for its natural lake, one of the largest in Catalonia, which hosted the 1992 Olympic rowing events and is now a year-round centre for water sports, open-water swimming, and lakeside cycling. The old town has a weekly market, several good restaurants, and a relaxed local feel. Girona Girona is around 25 km to the east. Its medieval quarter — with cathedral, Jewish quarter, and intact city walls — can comfortably be explored in a morning. The city also has a strong food scene and direct high-speed rail connections to Barcelona (roughly 30 minutes). From Banyoles, take the Gi-524 towards Cornellà del Terri and follow directions to the Sords hamlet — approximately 10 minutes. From Girona, allow around 25 minutes.
