The space Welcome to Cat Cottage, a beautiful 1880 Cotswold stone cottage where history, nature and creativity come together. Set over three storeys, this charming terraced home has been thoughtfully restored to preserve its original character while offering a peaceful and inspiring countryside escape. Cool and refreshing in summer thanks to its thick Cotswold stone walls, and wonderfully warm and cosy in winter with a crackling wood burner, Cat Cottage is a place to enjoy in every season. Sleeping up to two guests, the cottage features a gorgeous crystal-filled bedroom with comfortable John Lewis mattress, an antique Persian rug, and underblanket heating for a wonderfully restful night's sleep, often accompanied by the gentle hooting of owls from the surrounding woodland. Throughout the house you'll find exposed oak beams, cork and wooden floors, original colourful artwork adorning every wall, carefully curated upcycled vintage furniture, sheep skins, and turquoise velvet leopard-print sofas. The spacious turquoise bathroom is a highlight, with a stunning freestanding bath perfectly positioned to take in abundant countryside views: the ideal place to unwind after a day exploring the Cotswolds. At the heart of the home is a welcoming country kitchen with a Rangemaster cooker, perfect for slow breakfasts and leisurely dinners. An indoor wood-burning stove keeps things cosy in cooler months, while the outdoor fire pit, set on an Aztec patio between the two streams, invites long evenings beneath the stars. Step outside into one of Cat Cottage's most magical features: a rose garden where two babbling streams weave through the garden. The garden is also home to an apple tree, pear tree, plum tree, mature grapevine and a fragrant herb patch for guests to enjoy. Opposite the cottage is beautiful woodland that leads into Strawberry Banks Nature Reserve. The back gate opens directly onto a riverside footpath. Turn left and follow the trail alongside two rivers to a traditional old-world Cotswold pub. Turn right and let your nose guide you to Lavender Bakehouse for lovely coffee and homemade cakes. For artists, writers or anyone seeking quiet inspiration, the dedicated art studio provides a bright, peaceful space to paint or write or create. If work calls, there's also a separate study by the entrance with a second desk, offering a quiet space to work without interruption. Despite its tranquil setting, Cat Cottage is less than a 10-minute drive from the vibrant market town of Stroud, renowned for its award-winning farmers' market, independent shops, cafés and thriving arts, music and alternative culture. It's also perfectly placed for exploring the honey-stone villages, scenic walking trails and rolling hills that make the Cotswolds so special. Whether you're soaking in the bath with panoramic countryside views, gathering herbs from the garden, listening to the streams, curling up beside the fire, wandering to the pub along the river, or falling asleep to the sound of owls, Cat Cottage offers a truly unforgettable Cotswold escape. Guest access Guests have private access to whole property and garden. The second bedroom will be locked and unusable for guests as it contains all the owner's belongings (but the property is advertised as a one bedroomed cottage in any event). Other things to note Please note that the staircase leading to the third floor (where the art studio and bedroom are located) has a relatively narrow turn near the top. Guests with limited mobility or large luggage may wish to take extra care. There is a TV and DVD player in the bedroom for watching DVDs. However, as I don't use the TV myself and do not hold a TV licence, there are no live TV channels or streaming services such as Netflix available.
