Welcome to Chapel Cottage, hosted by Sweetcombe Cottage Holidays, a local agency based in Sidmouth. The cottage would suit anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing, "get away from it all" holiday. With abundant wildlife in the large garden and surrounding fields, its inglenook fireplace for cosy winter fires, patio area for al fresco summer meals, masses of daffodils and primroses in the spring and spectacular views of countryside glowing gold in the autumn. The space Part of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Harcombe lies less than three miles inland from Sidmouth and just 1.5 miles to Sidford, with Spar mini-supermarket, pharmacy and two local pubs. Built in 1640 and originally the site of the local chapel, Chapel Cottage has been owned by the same family for generations, once forming part of the Sand Estate in Sidbury, home to the Huyshe family for over 500 years. With central heating throughout Chapel Cottage is the perfect holiday destination during any season. Ground floor A large attractive entrance hall leading to Cosy sitting room with original exposed beams, inglenook fireplace for log fires, shuttered window with window seat overlooking the garden and surrounding countryside. Door to garden. Large dining room with serving hatch to kitchen, dual aspect shuttered windows, window seat, exposed beams and ornamental inglenook fireplace (not for use). Spacious, fitted Shaker style kitchen with stable door to garden. Large washroom with traditional ceiling pulley clothes airer, generous-sized power shower cubicle and separate W.C. On the first floor are two charming bedrooms, Bedroom 1: Double bedroom with exposed beams and country views Bedroom 2: A good sized twin bedroom with exposed beams and delightful far reaching country views. Bathroom with bath and W.C. Outside there is a large lawned garden and patio area with attractive garden furniture and parasol. There is also parking for four cars. Guests can explore the surrounding area with beautiful walks along the South West Coast Path and East Devon Way Nearby there is the beautiful Edwardian town of Sidmouth with its array of independent shops, beach with esplanade and a good variety of places to eat including Neil's Restaurant, Pea Green Boat, Dukes and the Anchor Inn. Other things to note Pets - 3 well behaved dogs accepted at £30 each/week which is not included in the booking price. Please let us know after booking so we can add the separate fee via Airbnb.
