The space The colonial house was built in 1750 and is one of the few remaining colonial houses in the region whose age and history are still noticeable. It is a valuable piece of contemporary history that tells of the settlement of the Ueckermünder Heide under Frederick the Great. In 2007, the house was lovingly restored with great dedication and mindfulness. You can expect an approximately 900 square meter, fenced wild and cottage garden with old fruit trees, which is carefully maintained. Just a few hundred meters from the house, an idyllic hiking trail begins, leading through the secluded Pomeranian landscape to Ludwigshof, where you can visit a lookout tower, and continue to Rieth, directly to the water. Ahlbeck is located on the eastern part of the Ueckermünder Heide, picturesquely located on the Szczecin Lagoon. In the area you can find numerous small sandy beaches and quiet, natural swimming coves. The longest and most beautiful sandy beach stretches in the seaside resort of Ueckermünde am Haff. There you will find beach chairs, a nudist area, a beach promenade with kiosks and the listed beach hall with a restaurant. The Szczecin Lagoon, which is almost twice as large as Lake Constance, offers ideal conditions for swimming thanks to its low salt content and flat shores. As early as May, the water temperatures are often very pleasant. From Ahlbeck you can easily reach the coast by bike using the well-developed network of cycle paths, or explore the surrounding forests. The nearest bike rental is in Ueckermünde and delivers the bikes directly to the house on request. In Ludwigshof, the neighboring town, there are also two riding stables for horse and pony enthusiasts, children and adults. Other places worth seeing in the region are the zoo in Ueckermünde, the Slavic settlement Ukranenland in Torgelow, the Samendarre in Jatznik, the inland dunes in Altwarp and the Brohmer Berge. The village church of Ahlbeck, dating from 1754, is one of the most beautiful baroque timber-framed churches in Northern Germany. The former Ahlbecker See, now known as Ahlbecker Fenn, has been part of the nature park on the Szczecin Lagoon since 2005, which is characterized by its unique lagoon coast, lean sandy soils, low moor areas, pine forests and beech forests as well as the presence of lesser spotted eagles, cranes and hoopoes.
