Merribee Station | Grand Heritage Homestead
Merribee Station | Grand Heritage Homestead
Description
Experience exclusive use of a beautifully preserved heritage homestead in the heart of the Riverina. Surrounded by established gardens, a swimming pool, outdoor entertaining spaces and sweeping farmland, Merribee is a place to slow down, reconnect and enjoy Australian country life at its finest. Whether gathering with family, spending time with friends or escaping the city, every stay offers privacy, space and the timeless charm of one of regional Australia's most distinctive heritage homes. The space Merribee is a beautifully preserved heritage homestead, rich in character and thoughtfully furnished for comfort, offering guests the rare opportunity to experience life within a grand Australian country residence. The ground floor features an elegant formal dining room, spacious lounge with a wood-burning fireplace, and separate breakfast and sitting rooms, all flowing onto wraparound verandahs overlooking the gardens. The first floor accommodates five generous guest bedrooms, while the third storey is devoted entirely to a private penthouse suite complete with a clawfoot bath, lounge set, dining table and sweeping views towards Binya Mountain. An impressive Australian cedar staircase connects the three storeys, while 16-foot pressed metal ceilings, polished brass fittings and Italian marble fireplaces showcase the craftsmanship and heritage of the home. Large windows and French doors frame the surrounding gardens and countryside, creating a constant connection between the home and the landscape beyond. Guest access Guests enjoy private use of the homestead, gardens, pool precinct and designated guest areas of the property for the duration of their stay. Merribee is situated within a working farm and guests are welcome to enjoy the surrounding landscape while respecting farming operations, livestock and restricted areas. A guest services assistant may be present on the property during your stay and remains available should assistance be required, while ensuring guests can enjoy the privacy and seclusion that makes Merribee so special. Other things to note Merribee is a private heritage homestead situated on a working rural property. Guests enjoy exclusive use of the homestead and designated guest areas, while farming activities may occasionally be visible elsewhere on the estate. As a heritage home, Merribee celebrates authenticity over modern minimalism, offering guests the opportunity to experience the craftsmanship and character of a grand Australian country residence. As with many rural properties, guests may encounter dust, changing weather conditions and native wildlife including kangaroos, echidnas, birds, reptiles and insects. Merribee is also home to one Jack Russell and two friendly working Kelpies who live outdoors. They generally keep to themselves; however, we're happy to keep them secured during your stay if preferred. Simply let us know before your arrival. Mobile reception and Wi-Fi are available but can be inconsistent in some areas of the property. Many guests find this is part of the charm, providing an opportunity to truly slow down and disconnect. If you require a stronger mobile signal or reliable internet for work, Griffith offers a range of cafés and other venues with excellent connectivity just a short drive away. If you're unfamiliar with using a wood fire, pizza oven, barbecue or driving on unsealed rural roads, please let us know before attempting them on your own—we're always happy to help. To preserve the peaceful nature of the estate, Merribee is best suited to respectful guests seeking a relaxed country escape. If you're planning a celebration, gathering or additional visitors during your stay, please contact the Merribee team before booking so we can discuss the most suitable option.
