Just 14 minutes from Gatwick Airport/Station & the Express into London takes only 30 minutes, yet the Barn is set in open countryside, surrounded by fields, on an Equestrian property The space Old Barn Cottage is a 17th century timbered converted Barn in the grounds of our 1630 Listed Farmhouse, perfect for escaping to the country, racing at Lingfield or visiting London and Brighton are amongst many of the great attractions this area has to offer. Old Barn Cottage is situated on an Equestrian property at the end of a quiet, no through country lane. THE ACCOMMODATION Sleeps a maximum of 4 and comprises of, ground floor fully fitted open plan kitchen/living room with underfloor heating, breakfast bar, dishwasher, fridge, kettle, toaster and Nespresso coffee maker. L shaped Sofa, additional sofa and coffee table. There is also a downstairs utility room with WC, washing machine and drying rack. (no tumble dryer). The stairs to the next level open up to a vaulted ceiling with more exposed beams where you will find two double bedrooms and bathroom with shower, roll top bath, WC, basin heated towel rail and hair dryer. All bed linen, towels, shampoo and shower gel etc are provided. The property is self catering with a complimentary selection of teas, coffee, herbs, spices and cooking oil etc available for your use. The village of Smallfield, just a mile up the road has a Co-op, Butchers and Greengrocers if required. HOT TUB Our hot tub is available to hire if you’d like to add a little extra relaxation to your stay 😊 A daily charge of £40 applies, which can be arranged in advance via the Airbnb Resolution Centre. Please note, the hot tub is located on the patio of the main farmhouse, approximately 50 yards from the cottage. Do let me know if you’d like to book it in advance, and I’ll be happy to get everything prepared for you. Great local pubs and restaurants less than a mile away and lots of lovely country walks from your doorstep. We also have four bikes available for your use, free of charge. THE AREA We might be just 30 miles from London, but we are in the heart of South-East England, surrounded by some of the most beautiful and richly historic landscapes in the country. Midway between the Surrey Hills area of outstanding natural beauty, the High Weald area of natural beauty & the South Downs National Park, there’s no shortage of natural attractions to explore. Rural location, car recommended. There is ample secure parking for two plus cars. Old Barn Cottage is located down a country lane with numerous walks and footpaths from the front door. The Barn is also ideally situated to visit the National Trust properties of Standen, Sheffield Park, Nymans Gardens and Polesdon Lacy. Just 11 miles South, is Wakehurst Place which is also owned by the National Trust but run and maintained by the Royal Botanical Society along with Kew Gardens. Other nearby attractions include the Bluebell Railway, Ashdown Forest famous for Winnie the Pooh and friends and in Crawley are Tilgate Park and Buchan Park. To the North West are Wisley Gardens and the theme parks of Legoland, Chessington and Thorpe Park. The property is situated on the approach to Gatwick airport therefore, there is some aircraft noise to be expected.” The Barn is double glazed and well insulated and there are complementary ear plugs provided if desired - perfect for any avid plane spotters! Airport parking available while you are away on holiday priced at £10 per day, £50 for 7 days Accessible by car, the local railway stations are: THREE BRIDGES TRAIN STATION - 6.7 mile (17min) Direct line to London and Brighton. GATWICK AIRPORT - 6.3 mile (14 min) also, direct train line to London and Brighton. LINGFIELD RACECOURSE - 5 mile (11 min) also direct train train line to London. Within easy reach of the South-east coast and the Channel Tunnel. Taxis to/from Gatwick are easily accessible and cost around £23 (including airport drop off fee) for a regular sized car. Guest access Outside, there is a patio with table, chairs and BBQ for your own private use, overlooking the garden and surrounding fields. Other things to note PLEASE NOTE: The property is situated on the approach to Gatwick Airport, so some aircraft noise is to be expected.
